Just had a sudden thought... You know that in AUJ we're told that the Morgul Blade was buried with the Witch-King after Angmar fell? Well, Minas Morgul was still Minas Ithil then... So it couldn't have come from there...

Or am I just wrongly linking Morgul and Minas Morgul, and that, in the context of the blade, it just means "Blade of Sorcery" or something, but I'd always thought of it as meaning from Minas Morgul.

That whole back story that they had for the Witch-King was false.

 

 

     "He decided to flee to Angmar and the safety of Carn Dûm, but the cavalry, with Eärnur himself in the lead, overtook him. Moreover, the ranks of the allies swelled, as an army of elves from Rivendell came led by the mighty hero of old, Glorfindel. Angmar was purged of men and orcs, and all seemed lost for the Witch-king in the face of such numbers. But the Witch-king himself came at the last, robed and masked in black and riding a black horse, and attempted to kill Eärnur with his own hands. The reference to the "morgul" is  generalised as black sorcery of some kind. so you could have a morgul "item" then a minas morgul at a later date. Doesnt matter which order it comes.

 

Im sure the changing of the WK's origins is a result of Glorfindel being ommitted in the LOTR. If they were to keep it intact, then people would bitch about glorfindel not in FOTR.

 

I would have welcomed a flashback during the blade's reveal at the white council meeting, especially if Glorfindel had been included in that scene. It would have been easy enough to have him be among the elves leaving middle earth somewhere in the next 2 parts of the trilogy. Maybe it would have been too much stuffing.

You heard of Highfells ? It seems it was some sort of tomb for the Nazguls ... I guess we will see this in the Extende Edition or in the Second movie.

Yes, it seems like it was supposed to be in the first. High Fells is in An Unexpected Journey Art & Design, but this scene looks to be moved to the second movie.

From the book I can confirm that the High Fells has nine tombs/prisons, and when Radagast and Gandalf look at them, they find that the doors have been ripped open from the inside.

I think it was the Dunedain of the North that imprisoned the Nazgul.

There is only a little bit of information in Art & Design (some good pictures).

P.S. High Fells is just before the giants (my book isn't in the same state as me at the moment - sorry no page numbers).
