Of course, I'll have to watch it again in 2D if I do that, but I'll probably end up seeing it twice on the cinema anyways

On the 3D, I usually don't like it but this will likely change that opinion. 99% of 3D films are edited in post-production, but they aren't doing that here. It will be great.

Though I'm not sure of the little scene with Gandalf and Galadriel.
The beardless Thorin still gets to me.

The two seconds around 1:31, showing Gandalf balancing a narrow path with an abyss on his right side ... might that be a first glimpse of the dungeons of Dol Guldur?
That's what those on OneRing.com said also , Well I guess is the only thing you can say it might represent , but I hope there is a lot more then some narrow paths.

My Political Compass
Sieben Elefanten hatte Herr Dschin
Und da war dann noch der achte.
Sieben waren wild und der achte war zahm
Und der achte war's, der sie bewachte.

That's what i would say, the clip of him fighting that orc near the end seems to have some evil looking prison gates around. The two seconds around 1:31, showing Gandalf balancing a narrow path with an abyss on his right side ... might that be a first glimpse of the dungeons of Dol Guldur?
Though i wonder how they'll introduce that part, seeing as Gandalf finding Thrain in DG was before (and the catalyst for) the events of the Hobbit. A flashback maybe? Or will they change the story to have Gandalf wander off into DG whilst the company is passing through Mirkwood?

My guess is they are using the second movie to tie in with LOTR so I wouldn't be surprised if the first movie ends in Mirkwood or even Esgaroth.
