How about some reviews guys? I'm dying for some points of view from people like rider, lauri, matt, haldir, njm, mathijm ecc. I also could use some good bug reports so i can finish this once and for all. I have already started making a list with stuff i wanna change or modify like water textures, some caradhras textures, objects and new mission, some new elves for rivendell, vision and so on

Ah yes. I have a lot on my plate at the moment. This is a start.

Weathertop (cinematic): This scene was brilliant, the entry of the Nazgul and their approach towards the ruins of Amon Sul was done perfectly. The animations and effect you have used really surprised me and this is what I will be learning from your map. The drowning of the Nazgul at the Fords of Bruinen did, however last a bit too long (or it might of been glitchy-slow on my computer)

Rivendell: The cinematic at the start was well done, the remarks by each of the characters was a great surprise. The only thing I could find wrong with Rivendell is that it didn't look right. While you have only a small space to make the Hidden Valley there are some objects (like the wall) that do not look good and are not accurate. The mountains behind Rivendell were also a bit poor. Try copying the style of the mountains in the EA map. The EA map did not get the layout of Rivendell correct either, but you can use some inspiration from their terrain work. If objects are a problem then remember that you can use the terrain for rocks and cliffs and shrubberies.

Hollin Gate: The cliff and terrain suffered here as well - it looks like a simple height change and some smoothing. Texturing is alright, in fact you could possibly get away with having less textures if the terrain had more work in it.

Ost-in-Edhil: While having these Elvish ruins was a brilliant idea, the objects that you have used do not make it look good. Look at this advanced tutorial for tips with ruins, especially keeping the style together:
http://forums.revora...ns/#entry805463
One thing to learn is that you can use different styles of ruins to make one style, but in your case it still needs to look Elvish and not pieced together from all over Middle-earth.

In fact just look through all of Haldir's mapping tutorials, he is one of the best mappers here. He was part of the old {IP} clan which was a group of professional hobby mappers back in the day.
http://forums.revora...ral-discussion/

West Gate: Just a suggestion, perhaps you could make the watcher attackable?

Isengard: The walls looked horrible when you have then meshed together.

Moria West: This was absolutely confusing as hell! Wonderful and brilliant work bring this together. The glitchy part for me was when units were teleported and attacked immediately. A problem is with the scaled Moria objects - they aren't

Dwarrowdelf: Keep Dwarrowdelf simple. That is all I can say. It's beauty was its simplicity with the giant pillars. The chasm I have already said that that was wonderful. But as NJM mentioned, some of the stuff there does not fit. Get the Minas Morgul buildings out of there! As well as the whitish Dwarven ruins, they do not suit the colour scheme underground (they are for snowy maps).

Moria East: I felt that this too was very cluttered. The fight with the Balrog had goblins attacking as well (and they were incredibly frightened by the demon of fire).

The best part about this map is the animation work and the music and of course the maze like complexity that you brought out of Moria. Something that can be improved are the strings, I am impressed with your English (I was a English as a Second Language Teacher Aid), however there are some grammar mistakes - to the point of being confusing. However the terrain work is generally poor, I am sure that with more work on it (you do have the basic shapes layed out) it will can get better. Something that brought me up to scratch with terrain work was editing EA maps (and I still edit them, I am no-where near the best mappers around here either).

I don't know what Moria East is - if there is a glitch and i don't now about it, i should! Do you mean Galadrie's bonus mission? when it teleports all your heroes to fight in Lorien?

About strings .. this is the best english i could produce :). If you feel something is confusing or misspelled you could take the map.str, make the changes or highlight the problems somehow and send it back to me. This would help me see what to change there.

About Isengard - i don't understand, when i play it looks perfect. See the screenshot below.

Oh and about the Arwen - Nazgul cinematic scene - i don't know why but the flood kills your video card. My old computer used to take very long to put out that scene too. My new one works perfect and all the scene doesn't take more than ... 10 seconds..maybe 15

About objects - it is true that i used many of them from all around the areas and i will take your advice as to make some changes where they don't fit. My big problem now is that whenever i change objects i have to make a special test because the game is changing the model of other objects (bug). And i kinda stopped thinking about changing objects.

I'll see that i make everybody happy at the end :)

Thank you Matt for breaking the ice. What do you think about the Gandalf-Balrog cinematic (cause that's my favorite one) ? Or the final cinematic.

1) Hollin should be Hollin Gate... fixing that now.

2) I also got East and West confused.

3) It would take a lot of time - I would prefer to check it inside Microsoft Office Word and start from there in fixing the grammar and spelling.

4) When you rotate the camera, Isengard's walls flash due to them being meshed.

5) I haven't seen the ending cinematics. :( But I noticed that Durin's Tower is not being used and rather a goblin building is being used. I believe that this tower is also used in Moria aswell. It doesn't really fit with Moria - have a look at NJM's Moria maps. His maps have used the correct objects for Moria.

I haven't written about every location yet.

@1) - i am actually very pleased about the walls of moria and i don't think i will modify that (at least not much). The only thing that bothers me there is the water texture - i will work on that.
@3) - the spelling is already checked and it should be right. What may be wrong there are the expressions.
@4) - this doesn't happens to me. Believe me i hate when what you say happens and i would correct that if the case. But i will check that again.
@5) - wow i didn't see that NJM map before and too bad i didn't. Now that i see pics it gives me many ideas but it's too late to do anything about it. The map isn't released is it?

@ All 1-5 - i realize that most of the complains about the objects are purely subjective .. it's only a matter of choices ... only a matter of how you see things different from me. For example Ost In Edhil doesn't strike me as wrong ... when i see it i don't see many objects with different styles as you say .. all i see is a ruined place (but i will look into this again). As i said upper the walls of moria and the magic door are up to my standards - maybe you imagine this place more .. rocky and bumpy - i see it like i made it. I agree that some of the Dwarrowdelf (the snowy ones) may need to be removed but about Durin's Tower i don't agree at all. I love how that place turned out and i even have it as wallpaper (see picture below) - the original object from the game was too shitty.

Conclusion : it's all about choices, thank you for the review and i will try to please everybody as much as i can

i had this idea since the beginning of mapping but i gave up because i couldn't do it. Can i make mission objectives like in the campaign maps? Then make them check when done. If yes, is there a tutorial or something?

thx. This is not a trailer made with footage from the map cutted and joined together, it is exactly the intro cinematic captured and posted to youtube. The map has other cinematics made in key points of the action.

How to solve Caradhras:

Comming up - solving Isengard, solving Dwarrowdelf fight(maybe the hardest fight in the map) and the Balrog fight fight + cinematic

And here's a new one: the Khazad Dum cinematic (my favourite). I worked my ass for this scene back in the day. Enjoy.
