Throw Snipers in MO for the Allies and I'll gladly test this out with you, the prerequisite of capturing my Snipers with Masterminds be that you actually get them past everything else first.

Oh, but Confeds can spam Hijackers that won't be get spotted between Conscripts, and China's Gyrocopters are immune to Sniper fire anyway. Seems that Russia would be hit the most after all.

I've just remembered another reason why the sniper isn't featured in skirmish: along with the Tank Destroyer, Sniper is also a "leftover" from the previous war. So it has story reason too.

TD is an outdated vehicle, believable.
Sniper is a man with a sniper rifle.
Story reason is just bloody ridiculous, because sniper rifles isn't something that hard to make, or is useless.
Story you say? I say all faction in the game have theirs own snipers for every single squad of infantry they have.

The most ironic thing is that you seem to be set up on adding Snipers because of Adepts/Elites, but it would be the Soviets that would suffer the most if they would ever get added. Epsilon? Half of their infantry is for free anyway. Adepts/Elites will die too quickly? Build Dream Weavers instead, they're as much annoying and much cheaper. But Soviets? You want to want to make their whole T2 and T3 useless only because you hate Epsilon?

A unit that can take control of almost your entire army, yeah, they're pretty annoying. you no likey snipers :<, increase Desolater & Hero HP from Sniper shots so that they could take like 2 shots from a Sniper, and possibly 3 for Heroes, make Snipers expensive, like $1200 or a bit more, make their reload time longer, problemo solved.

The thing is, Snipers were out for so long, adding them now will need to rebalance literally everything. It's not just put them here, raise stats of some units there and be done. We'd have to check if all subfactions have a way to deal with them, other than spamming dogs and run for them.

In theory those units could deal quite readily with a sniper or group of snipers, but rarely do players actually use masses of one kind of unit. The real question is, how will snipers change the dynamics of mixed units vs mixed units for each faction? There are so many units in MO and so many other factors that there's no way to decide these things with theory, you simply have to playtest them - extensively.
I always thought that removing snipers was part of MM's plan to make infantry units more viable- will a group of units containing snipers wipe out all of the infantry units in the opposing force, before the two groups even come within range of each other?

Heck Desolators pose an even bigger threat than them too as unlike Snipers Desos can almost instantly melt infantry and have effectiveness against lighter vehicles. And they walk faster...
