If there was no campaign (and we didn't know that it is based on a faction in Yuri's Revenge), the Epsilon would be mary sue as well, because they do seem to have hi-tech units with ufos and airplanes that look like spaceships. One would think that the Epsilon are aliens if not known ontherwise. :V

Naaaaah, Yuri's definitely watching too much TVs :p

But yeah, exactly.

The Epsilon is unique. They combine very outdated and outright primitive stuff, like the obsolete Lasher tank, the Gatling Tank that looks like it's cobbled together from scrap metal, a friggin catapult that throw bombs of toxic stuff with rather advanced stuff like those that you mentioned. Then there are the Initiates, who don't even have a weapon to begin with, and have to resort to using pyrokinesis. Besides being the first part of their training as psychics, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the result of the Epsilon being short even on small arms and ammo supply (this would also explain why they have archers), then these things remained in their arsenal even later, because they proved to be quite effective. Or the Bio reactors, those things too are born out of necessity, I believe, being fed up with the inefficency of coal, and being cut off from more advanced techologies such as Tesla and Nuclear power, the Epsilon started using organic stuff as fuel, Matrix style. It's just pure genius, evil genius, but still genius. Epsilon shows a clear technological improvement as they progress, both in the storyline, and in individual games as well, and so do the Allies and Soviets, while all of Foehn's stuff is very advanced to begin with.

While the Soviets put a trench coat on a man and give him a PPSh, and call it a soldier, the Allies give a man some flak armor, an SMG and a LMG, basic training and call it a soldier, the Epsilon teaches their followers how to set things on fire with their minds and gives them fireproof suits so they don't burn themselves accidentaly (there's also some sort of device on the concept arts, but it might be something as simple as a stimulant dispenser).... the Foehn, they give their basic infantry friggin exo suits, that would be tier 2 or 3 for anyone else.

I don't get why you hate Foehn so much.

The initiates uses psychic apparatus in MO's description to enhance their capabilities. Otherwise some of them is merely just normal people. Bio Reactor's origin is arguable really. Archer also uses genetic enhancement, dune rider uses hoverboard. Also, Plague Splatter is Scorpion Cell's tool far before they joined the Epsilon.

And as already established, Foehn exists after or around Act 2, and develops for a few years. I'm pretty sure they will be as relatively low tech as the rest of the original guys. Besides, Jackal Racer and Harbringer are already developed since Act 1.

And about the exo suit, they are very limited in number, as already been established. Giving them same equipment as the Allied and Soviet with their far fewer numbers would only get them all killed. They don't have the same cunningness as Yuri and Epsilon, but if they indeed came from the remnants of past factions (and it was said some past Commandoes lead them), then they still retain some technologies and resources, bonus point if some of them hails from Kanegawa Industries. Even more bonus point if one of the Commandoes is Siegfried or Yunru, or even both.

I already said, that because it seems very Mary Sue-ish to me. A completely alien faction with the most advanced tech, more importantly, with the most advanced tech feautured on everything they have, just appears. I don't know the inner thought process of the Mentalmeisters, but Speeder tweeted a day or two ago, that the whole idea of the Foehn faction was born when Ares made the logic behind the Nanofiber Sync possible. In other words, it wasn't planned from the beginning, its roots weren't integrated in the plot from the beginning, and as of right now, the faction IMHO feels completely alien to the game. Don't misunderstand me tho. The content is amazing. The graphics, sounds, music, everything is awesome about it. And the amount of work that was put into it is something to behold. I'm just saying that it does not feel to be an integral part of the game. I'll keep an open mind about it, and if Foehn will be properly integrated into the storyline, I'll change my oppinion. It would not be the first time I underestimated the Mentalmeister's talent, but right now, I'm a bit sceptic about it.

What if Yuri lost his psychic and Epsilon in the aftermath is not under his control but the player?

What if it was him who created Foehn as a way to take back what was his? Hence, revolt.

Only him know his own forces the best to counter it completely.

All have been deceived?

Once more Soviet missions come out, we'll know more. I mean: http://mentalomega.c...mg/soviet17.jpg

It was originally Soviet 17, which is now Juggernaut, so it was likely moved back, but we know well from the Foehn announcement trailer what that portal thing is there.

For those who question the Foehn's advancedness, remember that

  • The Allies don't really work well each other (US asks for help, PF says hi, steals Mercury for itself, gets screwed by China, and then allies with China, and then makes war with China. PF is complicated)

  • There are the red Soviets... and then there is China. Damn you China.

  • Ghost Hunt already suggests that Scorpion Cell might not have the same idea of mind control as the rest of Epsilon does.

Perhaps Foehn might not be as united as their rhetoric claims... and if so, things might get more interesting. :p

Pf and China are so shady in the campaign. They had a pact, but China also aloccupied Japan. Interesting thing is that Yuri did not foresee this pact.

What annoys me is that PF was supposed to be the Far-East but also Australia and Oceania. Yet the story only focuses on the Northern Pacific Front, ignoring the South completely. This is why I kinda wanted Australia to be its own subfaction back then before Foehn was a thing. :V

In Foehn, I can see Haihead being in odds with at least the Last Bastion, as Haihead seems to be a nomad group trying to fight the enemy, while they might be annoyed by Last Bastion calling them off when they feel they are winning a battle and such. And then Coronia almost feels like that one "elite" group who's a little too independent and too powerful and they tend to "steal the thunder" of the other subfactions, annoying them endlessly.

Last Bastion is a defensive force. Haihead is the spear of Foehn, while Coronia is recon/support/fast reaction group. Thats how i look at it.

C&C4 much?

I dont think Haihead would ever be recalled by Last Bastion.

I would also argue that RA2 Allies were Mary Sues as well.

They had all the cool technology: weather manipulation, time travel, mirage and prism technology, and Allied characters were usually respectable and professional. In contrast, the Soviets have their dinky big tanks, rocket launchers, nuclear missiles, and most of the characters were jokes. How can you take Romanov seriously? There was that one general, Vladimir I think, who was shown playing in a pool with supermodels. The Allies were the big heroes and the Soviets were goofball commies.

That being said, Mental Omega makes the Allies a much more interesting faction. The Soviets actually outmanoeuvre the Allies at many points: assassinating the president, launching a simultaneous attack to cripple the US, and using a Thanatos gambit to ensure a win-win scenario. The Allies are more desperate, so when their crazy, overpowered Paradox Engine comes out, we're glad that they get their lucky break. Mental Omega can keep a good tone.

It may be too soon to judge if Foehn is a Mary Sue. Because MO allies have crazy chronotech and the Abrams tank screams "JUSTICE FOR ALL". But in the campaign, the Allies are anything but impervious heroes. Likewise, just because Knightframes act all high and mighty and have fancy exosuits, doesn't necessarily mean Foehn will be perfect heroes. We'll have to wait and see how the campaign turns out.

Hmm, what it needs for it to be finished?

And maybe this is why the Cyclops wasn't revealed early and is not on the War Factory image? Because it's a placeholder, like Fin's graphics.

A titan having a single 100mm gun that fire like a machinegun with perfect accuracy even on the move is a very stupid thing so I suspected that it was a placeholder too. This design definitely make more senses since it have multi barrels.

Pf and China are so shady in the campaign. They had a pact, but China also aloccupied Japan.

Perhaps PF doesn't rogue entirely like China, that occupation is agreed by some PF side who wants an alliance with China, but the other like Kanegawa Industries and Norio don't like it. That's why Norio sided with Russians in Unshakeable

------

And also European Alliance seeks US powers for its advantage, mentioned in Hammer to Fall and Idle Gossip

Its more like US got back stabbed by its allies

What annoys me is that PF was supposed to be the Far-East but also Australia and Oceania. Yet the story only focuses on the Northern Pacific Front, ignoring the South completely. This is why I kinda wanted Australia to be its own subfaction back then before Foehn was a thing. :V

And also in PF skirmish loading territory just shown a territory around Japan and South Korea.
