You don't need the mini images anymore, both bfme2 and rotwk have no-cd game.dat files available now.
"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

Hey all,
Following the guide provided using Windows 10 and WinCDEmu - I'm still encountering the 'wrong cd-rom' error code.
I understand that some solutions provided are to replace the game.dat file but here's my problem: I cannot make any changes to the bfme2 iso folder? I can't create new folders within it and I cannot delete anything inside of it as well so I don't know how I can replace it?
Any help would be appreciated!

May have solved my own problem for that one...was trying to open the mounted .iso file instead of the installation folder haha.
So now that I've figured that out, all I need to do is replace the game.dat file right and have the patch changed to 1.09? Does the patch switcher need to be in the same location as bfme2 or not?

Just replace it yes. It's linked in the first post.

So i have the ISO file. I installed through alcohol52, i then installed all the patches i'm up to 1.09. Now i dont understand this step "replace your original game.dat file with it. It is located in your main installation directory of BFME2" but i have the installed link on the first page but i dont know what to do with the given folder i downloaded? i feel like im closer but still need help. i get the insert disk error message if i just try to run the game.
Thanks

You need to extract it using 7zip.

I extracted it using WinRar which then gave a folder with 2 files so the game.data is a DAT file but i dont know what to do with it?

You copy it into your main installation directory of the game and replace the game.dat in there with the one you just extracted.

Replaced the game.dat file but now when I try to launch the application, I get the screen with the background with your website on and the current patch etc...but the game crashes, saying "not responding".
Any ideas?

Did you make sure you have an options.ini file? See the other pinned topic here in the subforum.

Thanks for all your patience and help ICT - finally got it to work with the options.ini file. Haven't attempted to get multiplayer working yet just going to enjoy some single player nostalgia first!

Yeah use the all in one patch installer for BFME1 and install all patches including 1.06 then you won't need your CD anymore.

DO i need to move the location of the patch files that are installed? Or are they ok to just leave in the generic files folder?
Thanks,
