The patch installer needs to point to the bfme1 main installation directory. But it should not let you install if you specify the  wrong directory.

DOne the options ini and stuff, what other small secret things do i need to prevent this? Im sure ive mounted it properly too? DO i need a mini image or something?

No, just use the patch installer to install all patches.

Hello everyone,

By now we reach the time when our good old original disks reach their date of expiry and are expected to show serious physical failure. We decided to provide you an alternative way to continue playing!

Below you'll find a step-by-step installation guide for each game.

Big thanks to GameReplays.org for hosting the downloads!

Battle for Middle-earth
ladderbfme1logo.jpg

  • Download and install Daemon Tools Lite (do not update this specific version if the old version runs! Try Alcohol52% or WinCDEmu alternatively)
  • Download BFME1 (original unmodified version): Main / Mirror
  • Mount the downloaded .iso file with Daemon Tools (try this youtube video if you need help)
  • Install BFME1 from the now mounted disk image. Need a CD-keyNote: some antivirus software will flag the keygen. This is a false positive. The keygen is perfectly safe.
  • Install the latest patches with our all in one patch 1.06 installer (installs 1.03, 1.05, 1.06 and can also install our launcher which is all you need)
  • (If you didn't install our launcher with step 5.) Download T3A:Online to play online!
Battle for Middle-earth 2
ladderbfme2logo.jpg
  • Download and install WinCDEmu for example (If this version does not work for you try Alcohol52%)
  • Download BFME2 (original unmodified version): Main / Mirror
  • Mount the downloaded .iso file with WinCDEmu (try this youtube video if you need help)
  • Install BFME2 from the now mounted disk image. Need a CD-keyNote: some antivirus software will flag the keygen. This is a false positive. The keygen is perfectly safe.
  • Install the latest patches:
  • To play without a CD, download a new game.dat from https://www.mediafir...05lw3myl06t5bm6 and replace your original game.dat file with it. It is located in your main installation directory of BFME2. (Alternatively: download this mini image and mount it with the older version of Daemon Tools/wincdemu/alcohol52% you downloaded (important: make sure to mount to 'SCSI').)
  • Download T3A:Online to play online!
  • We've released a HD edition for BFME2 recently. Make sure to download and install for improved overall graphics. It's intercompatible!
  • Rise of the Witch-King
    ladderrotwklogo.jpg
    • Download and install BFME2 as described above
    • Make sure BFME2 is switched to patch 1.06 before starting RotWK.
    • Download ROTWK (original unmodified version): Main / Mirror
    • Mount the downloaded .iso file with Daemon Tools (try this youtube video if you need help. If this version does not work for you try Alcohol52% or WinCDEmu alternatively, make sure to mount to 'SCSI')
    • Install ROTWK from the now mounted disk image. Need a CD-keyNote: some antivirus software will flag the keygen. This is a false positive. The keygen is perfectly safe.
    • (Can Should be skipped if you install the new patch 2.02 with new game.dat, see below) To play without a CD, download this mini image and mount either one of them with the older version of Daemon Tools you downloaded.
    • Install the latest patches:
  • Download T3A:Online to play online!
  • If you have any questions, feel free to post.

I guess that Crossover means you are emulating Windows? Good luck! Please try mounting the disk using the default Windows 10 app.

Hey guys,

I already installed all of BFME on my old machines (Win 10 and Win 7), where it worked perfectly. Now I am trying to do the same on my new laptop, but for some reason not a single of the games launch. BFME2 and ROTWK don't produce any specific errors, just "stop working" and need to force close. BFME 1 has a really weird error "Exception_Access_Violation The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address which it does not have the appropriate access. Access address 0x000e9fb8 was read from."

Never had that error ever before, so I wanted to ask if it was linked to some broken Win 10 update (which has screwed me over today already) or what ever.

Thanks for your efforts to keep the games alive! Some of my favorites! :-)

Cheers,

torman

Make sure you run as admin and that you have a working options.ini file (see the other pinned topic).

Hey all, thanks to your previous help I've been able to run the base game just fine but I cannot get the expansion to work.

I have installed the mounted RotWK, switched to patch 1.06 and installed the 2.01/2.02 ( I think I chose the UK origin version??)

Also, I had trouble with the mini-image as it says the file is corrupt......I tried extracting it firstly with winrar and then mounting it from a seperate folder but now I get the "bfme2 has stopped working" error message when trying to load RotWK.

any suggestions? :)

Do you have an options.ini file?

I've just realised that under AppData > Roaming > Bfme2 RotWK, that folder is empty...despite me still getting the correct loading screen etc....?

I assume yes.

So, I have tried both Alcohol 52% and WCDemu (forgot the exact name, my apologies) and after installing with either of these options, thereby creating a Disc Drive for it, it still asks me to put a CD in, so I am unsure as to what I am doing wrong. I followed the instructions here: https://forums.revor...allation-guide/

I have made sure to uninstall BFME before trying the 2nd one, so I am pretty sure it is not that error. Thank you for any help, and I hope you have a great day/night.

Also: I am doing this with BFME I if that makes any difference.

Wait, are you sure you followed the instructions to the end?

You mount and install the game, then you can unmount and install all the patches up to patch 1.06. This will fix your problem.

OK - went through and could NOT find a place to put the options.ini anywhere in roaming - tried reinstalling and pre launching - with no effect. the witch king expansion crashes on start. :S any suggestions? tried just making a folder but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

What exactly is your problem,? Did you replace the file?
