How to play win 10 BFME2 on patch 1.08 ? 

 

It always ask for the cd rom, i had mounted it with virtual clone drive but it failed to find disk

Having an issue thats got me pulling my hair out.  I have the disc, tried it that way. I tried it the way suggested on this forum.  Everything brings me to the same issue on the splash screen: an obnoxious message that says "Battle for Middle Earth 2 has stopped working"  

 

I've seen the posts about some kind of fix in Roaming.  But I for the life of me cannot find this folder.  When I search AppData all that comes up is "Local"  Yes I have the option to view hidden files turned on.  No roaming to be found and everything I've searched seems to assume that we are able to find this Roaming file.  Which I cannot.

 

If it helps, I can play BFME 1 just fine.  But this game won't go past the splash screen. I'm on Windows 7

Make sure to mount a mini image to SCSI, not the installation disk.

Open Windows Explorer, click on the address line, type %APPDATA% and press enter (you can also enter the text in the Windows start menu).

In %APPDATA% there's a directory Roaming and if you installed BFME1 there should be two BFME directories in Roaming:

Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth II Files
Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earth Files

In both has to be an Options.ini file. I suspect yours is missing in the BFME2 directory.

 

If it is missing create a new txt file with name 'Options.ini' and make sure it is saved as an .ini file and not as a .txt file.

In the options.ini file copy

and save it. Try to run it again afterwards.

I found it, but when I try to save as on notepad the only option is txt

Ok got in....but I started up a skirmish and immediately got "Stopped working" Again.  I did turn the graphics up...

I'm into the game now, but I keep crashing from in the game now with the same "stopped working" message.  And its not a graphics issue because I set it to defaults.  For example when I go to "My heroes" the game immediately crashes upon trying to type a name

 

Ok apparently it doesn't like trainers cause I closed the trainer I was running and it works.  Ugh does this mean trainers won't work anymore?  I love this game but always found it too hard outside of campaign

Hello Randall, I believe that should be possible, although some people have problems with mini images for bfme2.

If you install BFME1 with the the all in one patch installer to patch 1.06 then you don't need to mount a cd.

 

For BFME2 you have to mount a mini image, make sure to extract it first.

 

• To play without a CD, download this mini image and mount either one of them with the older version of Daemon Tools you downloaded.

Ok, impossible to install Bfme II.

 

I install Bfme one with launcher 1.6, it's ok, this launcher is here, i start and he launch 20 sec and bug/crash i don't know, impossible to play. Help me please.
