My only prediction at this point is that I think at the end of the Foehn campaign we will find out that a believing heart is magic.

Leaked Foehn ending

YURI: "No! Even with your advanced technology how could you have possibly defeated my ultimate weapon?"

YUNRU: "Because my nakama believe in me! That's why you built the Mental Omega. You wanted the one thing that you could never obtain: friendship."

YURI: "Y-you've seen through me...My black heart could never obtain friendship. That's why I subjugated millions to my will"

YUNRU: "There's still hope. Stop this madness, come out of the darkness."

YURI: "Y-you would really forgive me, for all I've done?"

YUNRU: "Friends believe in other friends."

And they all lived happily ever after.

Welp, I just came up with some late-night speculation about the plot... hopefully this is the right topic.  :p

Don't open the spoiler until you've read my attempt to connect the dots.

————————————————————————————————————————

Mental Omega takes place in the early 1980s, and yet even before the beginning of the Third Great World War, military technology is in many ways far ahead of our own timeline in the 21st century.  With robotics, energy weapons, teleportation, weather manipulation, atomic weaponry, genetic enhancement, psychic manipulation, subterranean transit, aeronautics, anti-gravity, invisibility, and other marvels of science somehow leapfrogging within a mere generation, one has to wonder how this is all possible.

Setting aside the fact that a few physics-denying absurdities are a legacy from the Red Alert 1 conflict, things seem to be moving very quickly (to the point that the Epsilon Army, and later the Foehn Revolt, could develop their entire arsenals in secret, apparently in an incredibly short time-span).  Obviously several scientific geniuses had some roles to play in this (Yunru, Rashidi, Siegfried, all the folks at Kanegawa and Steinstech...), but it still seems implausible that such amazing progress could be made in such a short time.

Speeder at one point said that "the advance is mostly due to war against Stalin.. and for certain other reasons."

That made me curious, since it sounded like he was deliberately foreshadowing something.  He also said, a little more specifically, that "Timeline/universe tie-in [with the Tiberium Universe] will be hinted at in Act Two."

Of course, it's common knowledge that in GDI mission 08 ("Paradox Device") of Twisted Insurrection, the Nod Da'at cell (which "specialized in psychological warfare"...) was revealed to be somehow in possession of an alarming relic: a GWWII Chronosphere.  In fact, they managed to perform at least one (presumably successful) chronoshift with the device — and considering Einstein's original use of chrono technology, to travel backwards in time, it is theoretically possible that they did exactly that.

This has all been pointed out before though, including how those mysterious events might relate to Mental Omega's timeline: perhaps a Nod agent... possibly Yuri himself... traveled back to the era of Stalin.

Except, how would that explain the advances in technology?  Whoever traveled in time would have to be an extraordinarily gifted and knowledgeable scientist, able to recreate mid-21st century Nod technology in a few years or decades — and much more.  On the other hand, perhaps we could remind ourselves how Nod's technology managed to skyrocket in the first place.  No, it wasn't just the genius of the otherworldly prophet Kane.

Perhaps that unknown time-traveler brought something with them — something like the Tacitus.

Sometimes the answers could be right in front of us all along....

Spoiler

Mind blown! Great theory. :D

It does strike me odd that two mods would share a universe, though.

We still don't know what the hell is the Reptoir.

To those who don't remember:

The phrases there I think now mean a lot more than back then:

INITIALIZING

FREE THE OPPRESSED

MERCURY ACCESS FAIL

FIN PROTOCOL ACTIVE

DESTROY BABEL

REMEMBER death's hand

M.A.D.M.A.N. READY

PARADOX ACCESS FAIL

PURGING VISUAL DATA

OBEY ME

RECALL YOUR PURPOSE

COMMAND & CONQUER

TAKE MENTAL OMEGA

There were also the Volknet videos like this:

These included:

Connecting to VolkNet

Releasing scouts

Locating M.A.D.M.A.N.

Updating Haihead Data

Scanning for Libra

Loading 'Allies' Data

Loading 'Soviets' Data

Loading 'Epsilon' Data

Loading 'Foehn' Data

Loading 'Reptoir' Data

This actually frames Reptoir as a hidden fifth faction...

Inb4 one campaign mission for each pair of conversation.

And Foehn 11 ('YURI: "Y-you've seen through me...My black heart could never obtain friendship. That's why I subjugated millions to my will" / YUNRU: "There's still hope. Stop this madness, come out of the darkness."'), as all other 11th missions go, will deny this hope and drown all players in madness. Yuri may never obtain friendship after all.

Libra won't allow it. Huehuehue.

What do you mean siegfried will have nothing to do with Foehn, He probably created half the things for them, I mean Yunru may have invented a weird looking robot with 3 legs, but Siegfried created a teleporting Starship enterprise, I doubt Yunru could build Foehn on her own.

If Yunru is indeed the one building Foehn... if Yunru is still alive...

Who is to say the heroes / heroines need to be alive to take the tech from? Yunru is about the only other heroine, other than Siegfried, who can probably reverse-engineer everything she sees, like a Chronosphere (she knew about enough to hack it in Ego Ergo Hax, even without the Soviets ever having a copy of it). No need for Siegfried to be still alive, just the equipment. >:-D

That freaking tech-thief. I hope she stole Experimental Thor data lol. Or maybe just steal the Paradox.

I just thought about something... The first time people brought up the fact plasma weaponry was becoming a Foehn staple, people asked what about Epsilon weapons like the Colossus and the Basilic, and Speeder acted there would be some retconning needed, but didn't act upon it when it was done swiftly for the 'chaos tech'... and these two weapons were developped by Rashidi... He was tied to Foehn all this time, and nobody saw it.

And with this I'll upgrade my Eureka-is-secretly-Siegfried theory from Anime to semi-plausible!

Mostly in it for the lore. Although, I do enjoy basebuilding as well.

Anyways, I'm still curious if we really get a fifth faction, or something along those lines... like a fifth-but-unplayable faction.

Currently China seems to be the only one with a real direct link to Foehn. The whole China story from act 1 has come full circle.

I have a wild guess about someone or something gather dead bodies from fallen soldiers and civilians to rebuild them as cyborg army, Marked of Kane style.

Main objective of the stolen tech concept is to make more interesting pvp competition. The stolen tech between two different factions are possibly utilized in the same t3 of the respective faction for the campaign events. So far we have only seen Apocalypse and Iron dragon durimg the campaign missions which were consistent with the lore

And if you are talking about Dybbuk Seizers, they are the most trolling based ST in the game (even more if you are using them against another faction other than PCorps)

I think everything about Foehn has become clear after Thread of Dread: It is Yunru's super army that will possibly grow later with the additions from Allies(Kanegawa) and Epsilon defectors(Zorbtrotters) and other Soviet remains(probably)
and indeed Coronia is related to the Paradox engine which is re-evaluated after one of those quite common allied miscalculations.
