START OFFTOPIC PART

Going to be honest, I was sorta expecting this, considering it is the Internet we're talking about. It's almost impossible to have civil conversations on the Internet, simply because of differing opinions + the whole anonymity schtick. I hoped this thread wouldn't turn into a war zone, but at the same time, it doesn't surprise me, and I suspect I might've accidentally fueled it when I made my "PvP condescending pricks confirmed" joke comment. (I really need to put /s or /joke on my posts the next time I make a joke/sarcastic post... I forget sometimes that the Internet makes it hard to tell if a person is sarcastic/joking or not...)

 

I was reading Destroyencio's earlier posts in this thread, and quite frankly, I have to agree with Graion and "need my speed" when they say that Destroyencio's posts are straight up ridiculous. All he was doing was pretty much provoking X1Destroy and being overall annoying, at least from what I saw. Civil conversations don't come from people saying "You shouldn't post here", or "Your posts are a joke", etc. All that does is p**s the other party off and make you look silly. At least IMO.

 

I'm going to stay civil and neutral, though given this thread, I suspect warnings and possibly bans are going to be handed out to people in short order if this keeps up. In any case, to everyone not involved in this soon to be all-out war, I would recommend leaving this thread. For those that are going to stay anyway... *Puts Godsend Force Shield (The one where it's permanently shielding everything) on everyone not involved in this fight* ...that should keep you all safe. XD

Foxtrots IMO because of their accuracy nerf don't feel very good, mainly because their missiles sorta fly all over the place. Great for giant blobs, but the Foxtrot's missiles individually don't do a lot of damage, and the fire is only useful against infantry. Keep the accuracy nerf, but increase the damage a little bit. At least let the Foxtrot's missiles do a little more damage.

 

Suppressors are sorta weird IMO. Range nerf might not help much, since the Suppressor will still have the range to get first hit in, I think. I'm actually thinking that Suppressors should be changed so they can't enter Battle Tortoises at all (or any fire port vehicle, for that matter). Outside of the Tortoises, they're fragile, so having them unable to enter Battle Tortoises would make them less problematic to deal with (though I imagine that change is going to make a lot of people unhappy).

And even despite that some of players continued to play on a certain server that was created shortly after but wasnt endrosed officialy due to devs not really trusting it?

Hmm, Surpressor nerf would not be bad. Uou could also make its passenger space be 4. That will discourage people to make too many bt's with only surpressors. A range of 7 inside a BT would not be bad, I think. There is enough stuff with a higher range than 7. I do not know if air units would be a solution...

The thing with foxtrots it looks likt it is hard to find a middle ground. In 3.3.0 it was so obnoxious. But now it is okay imo. And since it is a Soviet Aircraft in a faction which is more focused on land than swift air strikes, a damage buff should not be too big. Just my two cents, though.

Passenger space 4 would not allow it to be loaded into any transports that are not capable of transporting tanks. Same case as -banes.

If there's one thing I have to admit, the versus community of this mod definitely is something that survives tough times. Quite active, considering the age of the original game.

And same person that got so many bans on various sites it is not even worth to count.


I was suspended many times on PPM - and your counting ends there. I don't know of anything else.... oh, there was that one lame try when you abused your mod powers to give me warnings just because - I honestly don't remember, I called you out on how you acted regarding YRArg, perhaps? So yes, I expected another warning point already, because you're such a guy whom would be triggered and was always arrogant with everyone excluding Speeder since I know you. That's 6 years now, damn. Not that I would care anymore. But yeah, even that was just a warning, and not even a suspension.

Explain the black PR to me, because I am unaware of that. And if you would be right, then I probably wouldn't be appreciated in that, dunno, 4-5 projects I am involved in.

But anyways, as for the surppresor problem many people had their own take for a solution.

These suggestions include, but are not limited to: Reducing heal ratio to 50%. Removing the damage reversal all together, opting for a damage negation. Taking the suppressor out of the BT combo by either not allowing it to fire out of transports or remove its ability to enter transports to begin with. While many of these ideas are good, even great, there has to be a unified solution to this damnable unit.

What I'm proposing is to remove the suppresors' ability to fire out of transports entirely. They will also receive a 25~50% rate of fire nerf but a slight duration buff. Mostly to prevent the suppressor to switch from target to target quickly. A range reduction inside of the BT would be great, until you think about all the other infantry combos that will suffer purely because suppresors needing a nerf.

This way, it is possible to deal with suppresors without completely removing everything fun about them.

I agree that suppressors are unique, and any sort of change to their specialty would be lost. So maybe the best if they either can't fire out of vehicles or can't be transported at all.

Air units like harriers or wolfhounds can deal whit battle tortoise while your army engage them, but 1- not all sub-factions have air AT 2- you still need to bum-rush
By the way, some sub-factions have really good means to deal with battle tortoise: SC (speeder trikes + mouse) PC (magnets+mc+grinder) WC (easy mode)

Suppressors do need a Nerf. Ill agree to that. And they don't have splash right? I don't use them too much; PF not my style. Nothing against PF ofc, i just like Russia, US & SC. I like the Russia buffs and all the other buffs in general. I understand why people ticked about a lack of suppressor nerf though. PF has a really strong arsenal.

 

I also think the chrono legionnaire buff is inconsequential. I thing their "damage" should go up. is 8 right now, so to my understanding, a target with 400 health will take 50 sec for a single legionnaire to warp out... maybe bump it up to 10? 12 dare i say? These are are micro expensive infantry behind a very high tech barrier.... 

 

I'm also skeptical about the borrilo buffs... ill see how it is live though. 

 

I would like to offer a suggestion to nerf pteranadons if anyone is interested: create a new armor type, AA, and make pteranadons really bad against it? I find pteranadons kill AA really fast, and infantry fall to vulture + Aqualena wayyyyy to fast to make a difference. I looking at you flak trooper... and archers+ GGI to a certain extent. Also like the idea that they should not do splash. Same with megarrena I guess? Me and my friend don't play with fohen against one another: still way too powerful. I wish they had something that hurt them VS original factions, but not against fohen. 

 

And finally to the toxicity around on the forums: 

 

Graion: your post brought up a couple of very good points, but you did it in such a unpleasant way. your post are toxic to the point of you good ideas are washed away with cussing and flaming. Not just here; in ROTR too. 

 

X1: I play a lot of AI too (being in North America suk: no one to play with). I don't find the changes that hard dot work through. I mean, we AI players see a challenge when the AI has an advantage over us, no? But when its PvP and the other player has an advantage over you that is not skill. (otherwise alstar == nerf ;)) is not fun. I don't think its fair to expect them to worry about the AI, when the AI is not that smart and other players really are. I'm ready to try new comps against the AI with new changes!

 

Everyone else who was toxic: the way you all ganged up on X1, regardless of how he acted, was scary. The circle of flaming showed me a weaker community than I thought existed. Don't be like the starcraft forums. We all know each other. We play a mod that all of us love. We have our factions, maps, units, lore that we all love. We are better than this. Shame on you for making it otherwise.

I don't know what is worse, pteranodons or zorbs but I know one thing: both units working together is a nightmare to deal whit.
On the pteranodon topic, in few words: they are too fast. They can deal their insane splash damage, move back, attack. They can also use shielded quetzals/buzzards as fodder. You can have 11, 15, 20 pteranodons moving together dealing all their damage at one point and moving away before taking damage in return, infantry can't catch them, AA vehicles can't kill them. Of course, some sub-factions have good enough AA to fight back (RU, USA, EA?) but still... my suggestion: 21 speed (-5) (between buzzard and quetzal)

A slower speed force you to be mindful about positioning; good positioning to achieve results with the combined force of your army instead of the current yolo tactics

@DeathKitty : I don't think that's the case. ATM Knightframe got erased easily iirc. I don't think the '8 damage' is done per second. Could be per frame or so.

i think i rather hide inside a battle bunker with all the flaming and ranting i am seeing here. I refuse to say anything about it and prefer to be neutral.

 

Anyway getting back to topic:

Foxtrot the accuracy nerf is ok but the firepower nerf needs tweaking a bit

Suppressors i do believe need nerfing, they being unable to enter vehicles or take up too much space at the very least is a good idea for a balancing change.

The new challenges seem interesting, but I am looking forward to MOre of them! Maybe bringing up a new challenge against all Allied subfactions where EVERYTHING CHRONOSHIFTS?  :shiftee:

and insanely difficult. If this idea was implemented, we can imagine all the players pulling their hair out until they are bald in frustration or throwing computers around :p

So basically a challenge where you're facing all 3 Allied subfactions, with all of their units being able to Chronoshift? Chronoshifting Battle Tortoises, Chronoshifting Hailstorms, etc? Sounds like a nightmare on its own.

 

Chronoshifting Tanya & Siegfried though...
