I would let the mod speak for itself if you get what I mean instead of start the claiming process.

Im suprised to see all of this arguements still going on. But since I am stoping in why dont you guys post any questions you have for me about Crimson Dawn.

Edit one: First let me settle this whole New Game/Buying the engine business. Here is the Official statement:

Currently: Crimson Dawn will be the first TC to ever have its own muisic made professionaly by someone Associated to the Original CnC Composer for it (to my knowledge correct me if I'm worng), addiontal software, its own directory, compelete replacing of all sound and graphics(everything GUI etc), plus full CGI movies to tell the story in Single player missions, and all new multiplayer maps. Also it will the first of its kind to have Cloud layers Storms etc. It is not currenly a new game as of now.

The goal for Crimson Dawn is to make it into a new game with the permission of EA In hopes to bring back CnC the way it used to be. To do the community a favor and keep CnC alive. (All we need from them is permission take away the CD requirment everything else is (except the Sage) is the proporty of Crimson Dawn.

This and only this statement is the offical claim for Crimson Dawn.

Ok now that that has been settled let me tell you about the storyline. First:

Only a portion of the storyline has been revealed to everyone yet. I happen to know a little more about than anyone else besides Gideon himself. But at the moment it is being kept a secret until it has been comepletly finalized. So there is no need to argue about that.

As for the planet mars, I dont see what the big deal is. I mean both sides had access to Space shuttles and stuff, and eventually someone was going to have a war over THE FINAL FRONTIER. It will be fun. It isnt something that is going to kill you.

That should settle most of the topics discussed. Now are there any questions?

why are u pushing so "hard" to call it a new game?

Many modders are content in making mods with new and exciting features but we don't rant about it like its truly revolutionary.

You can get permission from EA cos it isn't commerically sellable.

It completly contradicts plans for Tiberian Twlight or whatever its gonna be called.

What annoys me them most is that u guys think your suddenly gonna be the new CS developer team which was brought by Valve.

You see it is our goal.

That may be true but you'll have to wait and see. As for the many modders being content with making mods, well maybe we arent content with making just a mod  . Maybe we want to try and get something more out of our work. But I do see your point.

this whole New Game business

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Sure this can become a separate game, but it can't be sold. For it to be sold you need the intellectual rights for each part of work used. EA aren't going to send out documents for each team member to sign, stating that a part of work is there intellectual property. That must be done by the team leader.

I can imagine a team like Derelict Studios begin able to gather a list of intellectual property and consent to sell it. I can not imagine a new group like yourself being able to do this.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If you had already thought about intellectual property you would have stated it in that post. As you have not, it proves my point.

Intellectual property must be considered early in development, so that a complete list of all works can be maintained. If you tried to make a list now, you would have to ask all your staff members to give up there rights to the work thay have produced. Saying this after is harder than saying it at the start.

Just bumming along is fine if you make everything into 1 single package, but if your going to sell it to EA (which you have to, as it's there engine) you need to be legally viable.

I researched this for the game Origin was going to make 6 months ago

yeah, this would have made a better topic of the month

as for the mod... I don't follow it much but it looks amazing, I'm just not too sure about the rest of everything. Its become such a mess, where as many other mods are clear and you get a unit list and a few screenshots then wait for it to be released, CD seems so much more complicated.

Godwin + Daedalus:

Lets see you attempt... and see if anyone believe you...

btw, its simple to get the engine, its with it, its the only thing you'll leave untouched. Its basically emptying the current .BIG's and renaming them, and telling the game about the rename so it works correctly

oh, I was under the impression that progress had been going on for this project for quite a long time, and that it was near completion.

and that's called a mod, thank you

for EA to sponsor this mod you have to be very good and very popular, because in the end, if it's to become a retail product, it has to make money, and that is never going to happen, because it is neither good or popular.

If the only thing they keep is the game engine, no other code, or information from the .big files at all, is it still a mod. Really?

Was half-life not built from another engine? (correct me if I'm wrong), but you dont call that a mod do you?

Half-Life was built from some parts of Quake 2, like the ladder code :p

I think the CRY engine is vastly superior to all other fps engines out there. You just have to see from the way FarCry is now the most prominent benchmark in determining the "power" of a PC. Also I dont think you can compare the Unreal 4 engine to existing engines. The lighting effects are phenominal and unlike any i've seen, even in Far Cry. Anyone who's seen the Unreal 4 engine footage will understand what I mean.

That has alot to do with the fact that DIRECT X IS THE STANDARD INTERFACE BETWEEN GRAPHICS CARDS AND THE ENGINE.

If they did it another way they would have to allow for each individual graphics card, or at the least, each manufacturer.

lol how'd this get here... it was the highlight of the C&C Central forums for a while there... oh well.

as for this mod I beleive it will just be a mod, the game engine will not be changed although the file may be extremely large... As mentioned earlier in this post it seems like this mod is trying to become the CS of Generals... the only prob is EA doesn't give a shit about generals anymore and won't even consider making it retail no matter how good it is.
