I don't know... but if you watch the movie it opens really really fast. Maybe the WK used some trolls to open it? Compare the speeds that the respective gates open up... I'm pretty sure that the morgul gate opens faster then any other gate. Anyway, it's purely a cosmetic issue. When I was playing with the animation slider in Gmax it looked better when it opened faster.

well you could make it so when you get the power that broken walls go around each base

now, if you did that, you could just as well make it spawn the wall themself ;)

well you could make it so when you get the power that broken walls go around each base

now, if you did that, you could just as well make it spawn the wall themself ;)


but GTO said that he might want you to build each wall yourself. now if he wanted the wall to just spawn right when you get the power, then just have them pop up.

P.S. so is it going to be the sweetiest looking wall ever. and will the glow of the walls need sunglasses. ;)

Oh yeah, it will definately be the coolest wall ever made for bfme ;) definately worthy of ;)

Update: I spent some time skinning the morgul gate today... it's about half way. Unfortunately I've been busy today and wasn't able to spend alot of time modding. Tomorrow looks to be the same way, so I'll probably just finish skinning the gate or do a little coding.

well i guess i'll start packing my ;) . i cant wait for this. This wall and mod are going to be sweet. ;)

Edit: hey does anyone know where i can get a back up file of patch 1.03 ini? im going to try and do some small mods to keep me waiting till this/ elven alliance come out.

Here is another screen of the WIP gate:

It's fully skinned, now I've got to make the glows and get it in-game. I've also got to make the gate door itself.

FYI, I will be gone Thursday thru Saturday on a college visit... I might see if I can do some work on my dad's laptop, but as it is a mac I would be limited to basic coding and no testing. :(

;) may i just say that it is esily the best looking wall i have seen. wow am i glad that you learned how to do it. have fun looking at your college campus. :( for not being able to do much modding.

Now I'd like your opinions on the size of the gate... do you think it looks ok as tall as it is?

lol, there aren't any doors yet ;) they are a seperate model so that you can break them down independent of the walls. That's the next thing I have to model.

I've updated the screenshots page on my website. The images are now thumbnails (as Lauri suggested) and I've made some other small changes. Check 'em out :dry:

Yes, You'll need the EA Patches installed (up thru patch 1.03, the most recent). It's simple enough to install them though: just click the "Check for Updates" button when the game loads and it will automatically download and install the patches.

No, if you download 1.03 it contains all the changes from the earluier patches

The full castle in WB... it also now works in-game. It's not finished as there are many little problems, but as you can see it is getting there :p

Unfortunately I have another update: I start school on monday and with it comes all the hectic business of my life. I really really want to finish this mod and quite frankly it is close. But I expect progress to slow down over the comming weeks as I have many groups that I'm a part of that are starting back up and that will require much of my time.

Here is a rough list of what remains to be done in the mod:

---Gondor:
-Mablung, Damrod, Madril mini-heroes (heroes with just one-two small powers)
-Beregond hero
-A new summons
-A new power (very buggy and problematic but it must be in the mod)
-Two or three reskins
-Gondor AI

---Rohan:
-New Skins and a few new models for the Rohan heroes
-Touch up of the heroes codes (made by Hot!c3)
-Royal Guard troops
-New power
-Rohan AI

---Mordor:
-New WK model/skin
-New powers for the WK
-Shagrat, Gorbag, Grishnak mini-heroes
-Minas Morgul castle
-Minas Morgul spell
-Morgul orcs, banner, two or three other units
-something else that I can't recall
-Mordor AI

---Non Team Items:
-Snow
-Two or Three new Maps

As you call see there is a fairly large amount still to do, but if I am able one day to sit down and work hard I could easily get 3-4 items finished. The mod is right at that stage where I can see the end, but I know that there is still alot to do. And quite frankly it's frustrating...

Another unfortunate piece of news is that I am cancelling the Beta. It's alot of work to get all the things ready for the beta and I don't feel like taking the time away from the mod to work on the beta. Instead there will probably be a trailer. Sorry to those of you who were in the beta but this brings the mod that much closer to completion.

and as you said things will slow down (as you know for me :p )
