Seeing as how people ignored my last post ill say it again, What is Elfhelm's role going to be in the rohan faction? Another riding hero? leadership specialist? I mean, he is more important than gamling or grimbold

I'm hoping he'll have some special relationship with Eowyn, since he did help her. That being said, will she have any sort of relationship with Merry?

Edit: I think the concept of Gamling is gonna be kept the same. It makes sense to have him like that.

Gamling should be an archer rider, but not so damn strong because he is on horse, which could be abused i tells ya.

Its more affective than a walking hero archer. Therefore for balancing reasons, methinks hero archers of horsies should do less damage, or less accurate, becuase you can mow down a battalion, ride off a screen, then mow down another one.

Well, there's nothing in the Book to suggest that Gamling was an horse archer. The way it could work is that he has the option to toggle Bow/Sword on horseback, if it's possible. When he has his sword he gains additional armor.

It should be possible, I mean they've managed to do it with the Knights of Dol Amroth (sword and lance, mind you). And about the whole 'there's no mention of it in the book' statement (I just have to be picky don't I ), you could also say that there were no Uruk Scouts in the book, or horse-archers for that matter. The book rarely mentions specifics, especially to do with armour and weapons, and it's better that way; can you imagine if you were reading a page describing the Last Alliance Elven warriors to the very design of their cloaks? That would be both very annoying and very hard to picture. And anyway, this mod takes the lore of the books and the designs from the movie, in most cases. :crazed:

Horse Archers WERE in books. They were going after Uruks and orcs with Eomer and it was mentioned that Rohirrim can shoot while ride ...

Will the men of the Helmingas footmen serve as a spearmen unit, or a better branch of infantry?

They will serve a multi-purpose role (like the other Westmark units).

Multi-purpose, having the meaning of a spear/axe toggle, being heavily built infantry, or spearmen?

That's going too specific. I think they will be just plain versatile, having strengths in most places (i.e. they could be used for nearly everything...not saying that they are though ;)), so they would be good all-rounders to have on your team; a good investment.
