If you check the list they are now one mini-faction, this is what i was pointing out. Can the staff coment please.

No sice, they're not, I should know because I've seen the Esgaroth and Dorwinion icons on the Dale section and they are separate, if Dorwinion and Esgaroth were a single faction what would replace it?

Esgaroth is also know as the Long Lake south of Dale, and Dorwinian is the wine-producing land far east of both. The two are completely different.

Bladorthin II
Einar
Dorwinadan Soldiers
Lake-Guard

Celduin and the East Bight
Hildigais

Well, by the looks of the first post, they are just one mini-faction. Hmm, but on the Main Page, they aren't :\

Can the staff give us any clarification on this?

I guess that it is being discussed to put Dorwinion and Esgaroth into one mini-faction because both of them have only one unit and hero. So possibly it wouldn't be worth it to build these mini-factions.

I don't think this would mean that the staff will introduce an entirely new mini-faction. So there are two possibilities:
1) Dale will only have two mini-factions.
2) Dale will get a mini-faction that is (or at least its units) already used by another main-faction. This could be Great Shelf, Ered Luin or a mini-faction-version of Mirkwood or Erebor. ... or a "Rhovanion allies" mini-faction with dwarves and elves.

Staff, would you pleeeaaase comment on that. :p ...I guess you won't.... ;)

Well staff I can't tell you all what to do but if anyone needs a new mini-faction it's Rohan and that
mini-faction as we all know should be The Wose. :p

Oh and no, Rohan will *not* be getting the Druedain as a mini-faction.

It says on the site that Dale have Celduin, Dorwinion and Esgaroth as mini-factions. They're rightfully under discussion though, as Esgaroth and Dorwinion have only one elite unit and hero each (is the Dorwinion Soldier elite?). Maybe add a couple more units to Esgaroth (I can't think of anything for Dorwinion), say make archers and soldiers instead of them being one battalion with a toggle.

Perhaps Esgaroth could have an archer unit, as their archers were the ones who took down Smaug. Maybe it could also have a power that boosts Dale's already good economy, because it had the trade route with the elves via the Forest River.

well, I dont' know about you, but why should the mini's have many units? I mean, their a side-effect on your army, and should not have as many units as the original factions  2 different things is litte thought, but no need to change it if their good :p

I realize that new units won't help, but only one may differentiate two mini-factions that look a lot alike. It was only a suggestion.

That wasn't my opinion, I haven't really thought about if new units would help. I was just saying that I don't believe the staff will add new units.
But yes, I don't think new units would help so much. I even think the mini-factions should stay the same. There could be done more with balancing regarding unit strenghts, economy speed, costs etc.
Every faction has an advantage and Dale has the fastest economy and those adventurers. Both can be a very big adavnatage, so it is just a question HOW fast must the economy be to give an advantage against Gondor or Mordor (who have decent economy aswell) and HOW expensive may the adventurers be to give Dale a real advantage ingame.
...regarding the mini-factions Esgaroth and Dorwinion:
Faster economy means early access to mini-factions (and think of the possibility to make those mini-factions cheaper than those of other factions). Obviously these two only provide one elite unit and one hero, but if a Dale player can get them pretty fast it might be worth to build both. Dale could possibly have a very strong army in mid-game and could boost up pressure in late-game with adventurers.

And we all want this to be released, right? More units = more time to work needed...

however... this discussion wasn't meant to be public so let's see what the staff will be cooking up in secret

*scraps the idea of more units and throws it in the bin*
OK, maybe not more units. What Durin said above makes sense; Dale's main strategy/advantege is it's economy, so maybe incorporate it into that. Just a few questions though (just so I can get the full perspective of this) are the Esgaroth Lake Guard and the Dorwinion soldiers elite? If they are then that will be fairly balanced: Dorwinion has the elite front-line troops while the Lake Guard are the elite archers.

Or, maybe add a bonus to the Dorwinion building i.e. an economy for their wine. It'll act as a normal resource building except you can purchase units, much like the Rohan farm in the original game. Just some ideas...

Oh, almost forgot, what are the Adventure Companies again? I've been meaning to ask for a while.

Interesting. I would've thought Dwarves would've been to proud to become mercenaries. Meh, sounds cool.
