Click Here.
mh_gollum, click the above link for some "inspiration" if you find you need any. You might want to check out the "finished" and "unfinished" terrain galleries there especially, as that's the main point of this Post.
Lothlorien looks great, haven't had a chance to view the Vales though.
Good luck;

Tolkien's artwork

There's quite a lot of Rhovanion-themed stuff there, as Tolkien seems to have illustrated The Hobbit quite a lot.

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Next I plan to finish modding Edoras, Dol Amroth, Helms Deep and Isengard, then I would like to try Dale and Erebor (have a few ideas for them).

Glad you like the look of them. And Cel and Nuk like them too, hence the project status! About the screens, I've been told to hold back on them here, as they will be needed on the site. :p Although I will try to post some little samplers, like one a map showing a small area. Nothing too revealing though.

And about Dol Amroth, it was made by Istari Productions and is available for download from MEVault. It is a campaign style map atm so I am converting it.

This is fantastic work mh_Gollum! I can't wait for those maps to be finished and I'm sorry for all those soppy remarks on the angmar forum page, but never the less I'm thinking of becoming a mapper like you.

Good. The more the merrier. I personally dont think the basic of map making are that hard. I dont understand how people on MEVault can make such piss-poor maps with one texture and no blending etc. As long as it is thought through and looks good and is well-laid out etc it could have a place in the mod.

Isn't there a map editor on BFME? (Don't have my copy on my PC)
If so I may give it a go.

Yes, it is called Worldbuilder, and can be found in the BFME section in the Start Menu. There are several good tutorials around explaining how to make the map work in game, but the most important thing is too make it look good and play well.

A tip for making it look good: Use three textures, one main background one and the two weaving textures using 2px brushes. Do them one at a time then blend. That is my secret for textures, although - be careful when adding a path on top of the three textures because you can get blending errors, so try t plan ahead.

mh_gollum, you know what i said about me becoming a mapper, well thing is I'm not, and I don't understand the worldbuilder very well, if you remember where you learned to make maps could you tell me? also when I become an experienced mapper like you are, I want to design maps from the north like Rivendell, the shire, Fornost and Carn Dum. That is if the project members allow it.

Everything you want to know about modding can be found at http://the3rdage.net/ . First time I actually get to say that. :blink:

The best way to learn is to muck about, and play around. There are some tutorials out there but tbh the only one I used was the multiplayer set up one. Just play around and get familiar with the tools etc, and use tuturialss if you want, its your choice.
