True, they were the greater naval power, but just because they had some balistae on their ships doesn't make them 'militarily advanced', or whatever it's called. :crazed: You might as well say that the men of Gondor are geniuses because they invented the Trebuchet, although there is no specific evidence.

Fine then, Umbarians are very militarily advanced with wood-planked-together on water, Gondorians are miltarily advanced with long ranged rock flingers, Rohanmen are militarily advanced with man on horse warfare, Isengardiens is militarily advanced on creating supersoldiers-hai, Dwarvies are militarily advanced with heavy metal rock and shortness genes, Elfves are militarily advanced with sightseeing and pointed vulcan ears, Mordor is militarily not-un-de-advanced with crappy soldiers ingame, yet affective in text and content, Hobbithalfmens are militarily advanced with holes. Everyone is militarily advanced in their own special way, unlike Mordor and their triple negatived slave troopers

the Corsairs were black numennorians. So they should be like some kind of corrupted gondor mini-faction

The corsairs (or people of Umbar) were black numenoreans, but that was at the end of the first age I think, and after that their bloodline mixed with the haradrim over the next few thousand years.

There couldn't be black numenoreans at the end of the first age, cause there wasn't such an island at this time :)

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will,
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness,
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Say what now? :) The Black Numenoreans escaped the Drowning of Numenor along with Elendil (although they didn't literally escape together). They sided with Sauron after Drowning or something, and in Middle-Earth proper they were called the Black Numenoreans, because of their allegiance with Sauron. Then somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd Age their blood mixed with that of Harad, and so they became an entirely new race, almost. The Corsairs are basically Black Numenoreans, and I'm pretty sure they were around in the 3rd Age. The Mouth of Sauron was one. :)

I would've given a long statement detailing the Black Numenoreans and the Corsairs of Umbar but I found a far shorter and better alternative.

Olorin Numenor was founded at the end of the first age as a refuge for the Edain. Towrds the end of the 2nd age a split happened between the men that liked elves and those that didn't. Suaron came there soon after the split. The men who sided with the elves and the valar were called the faithfull, those who hated them were called the king's men, or in middle earth Black Numenorians. When the island fell into the sea and Elendil fled most of these black numenorians died. But when Suaron arose again in Mordor these black numenorians flocked to him. But Suaron fell and Gondor was founded, bla bla bla... We all know this. During the hight of Gondor's reign Umbar was one of their chief ports. Then there was a battle over the kingship (Called the kinstrife in the Book) and the upspurs fled to umbar. Gondor took the city back later. Then the upspurs joined with the Black Numenorian's and proded the Haradrim to attack the city. The city fell into the hands of the Upspurs, the Black Numenorian's, and the Haradrim. The Upspurs and the Blackies would not have been much different. I am guessing that who just mixed the dates up Olorin, but other might not know this history.
Side note: Corsair is just another word for Pirate in english.

Yep, I'm bad at important dates and years; that's why I'm failing History.:thumbsupsmiley: I rushed the end of my copy of the Silmarillion (which has like an overview of Numenor and the happenings of the 2nd Age), so I don't remember everything about them (and anyway, I like the Elves better, so I paid more attention to them :thumbsupsmiley:). But you still get the general idea: the people of Umbar have Numenorean blood in them. ;)
