:pNo the only way I could picture mumakil as being useful in a siege is as siege towers used to get on the walls, but that still doesn't seem very realistic.

It could be an option, but heres why it is not advised to use a mumak to ferry troops into walls

Say a Mumak made it next to a wall, and boarding ramps are set. As the haradrim are crossing the ramps, some enemy archers could just shoot at the Mumak, irritating and stinging it with a volley of arrows. One unhappy Mumak = unstable boarding ramps = Haradrim falls to their death.

I think it would be cool if khand could have Variag chariots(similar to wainriders but larger) that could transport a battalion of troops or, one of pull those small mini
catapults that throws the multiple rocks, or a very small ballista.

I like that idea, especially the ballista part.

Knew idea: Dunland can train uncontrollable groups of bandits that wander the map attacking passing enemies, and raiding outposts.

Sounds interesting...mabye they can throw torches onto buildings to set them on fire?
Think about it 1 bandit randomly by himself can't do much lasting damage to battalions of infantry. This would fit in with the dunland "brigands and pillagers" theme.

Also I was just thinking...it would be really cool if cavalry had 2 health bars, one for the horse and one for the rider. Now this probably isnt possible and would be very hard to do but its very realistic. Its pretty hard to kill both at the same time. So if the horse is killed, the rider gets up and fights as an infantryman, and if the horse survives, mabye it can run away and if its battalion stays alive, the remaining riders can take it back to the stable for another rider. Same thing if the soldier survives-he'll go back to the stable and get a new horse.

yeah I've been thinking about that horse thing too, only I fear it really impossible to get that done in a nice way. And well the dunland units... don't really know if that would be a good idea....

It wouldn't be one bandit by himself it'd be a whole group of them. The thing with the horses would be awesome but I seriously doubt it would work

the whole horse thigy has been done before if i remember correctly but i dont think that it is quite good idea to implement that. it doesnt work that way in real life anyways and it is far to much work for quite low effect imo.

Actually it does work that way in real life. Lots of times if the rider is killed the other horsemen bring back the empty horse or vice-versa. Same with the soldier if he survives. The battalion wont just leave him on the battlefield will they? About things like that actually happening in battle, true its rare but still happens. Mabye only certain units will spawn with the 2 health bars?
This is all hypothetical of course-I'm surprised it could even work.

It's been done without two healthbars...
It's possible with just one :sad:

This talk about horses reminds me of a feature Deezire had in his mod...

@Lauri:

Oh. Well whatever. Whichever one is easier I guess, that part doesn't really matter.

@mh_gollum:

Deezire had a mod with this in it? Or something like it? For which game?

He had a power where if you sent riderless horses back to the stable then they would get a new rider, provided that at least one of the horses had a rider (else all the horses would just scatter). I redownloaded that mod earlier and have now got a small list of nice features we can add.

That feature from Deezire was something I think EA did but didn't implement they just got it working.

The Dunland idea sounds interesting.

seems like a waste of time.. if you want more horses then buy some, and the dunland idea is slightly better but still pointless, you might aswell build the unit and control em yourself instead of watching them go on a kamakaze tip
