Dwarves and swords just doesn't work, dwarves = axes and hammers, as simple as that (maybe shortswords, but I don't remember even one dwarf with a sword).
Look, up in the sky, a bird, a plane, no, its...LOREMAN!!! HE HAS COME TO SOLVE ALL OUR LORE PROBLEMS!!!
Yes Dwarves did uses swords. The Sword is not much less common for a Dwarf then an axe. People only accociate Dwarves to Axes so much because of Gimli. Why one of the most famous Dwarves ever, Thorin Oakenshield, used a Sword.
I didn't claim I know lore that well, its just from other games and most places that dwarves use hammers and axes mostly, it just makes sense.
That is all Lord of the Rings influnced. Because of Gimli the stereotypical dwarf uses an Axe, even though a good portion of Dwarves uses Swords. And because of Legolas all Elves have to be archers. The game you are refering to are under the influince of the Gimli and Legolas stereotype. Tolkien basically defined the modern Idea of Elves and Dwarves.

Still, not all of Dwarves should use swords. Most should still use axes and hammers.
By the way, you could add Beorn as a new hero for the dwarves, and his kind as a new unit. You could also add Gandalf the Grey (And Gandalf the White to Men) if the need for heroes in Dwarven faction is still so dire.
P. S. I barely played this mod. I think it's great. But I REALLY hate the idea of Isengard having Fellbeasts. I think it would be better if they had Dragons.

1. King Dain is at the time of War of the Ring an old dwarf. His beard should defenitly be white. (I like Gloin's white beard)
2. Men of Dale Barracks (as well as other new buldings) should have animation when building. The should at least rise from the ground like all buldings do if you have "Low" settings.
3. Men of Dale Barracks also make a wierd image when they are being started bulding (like two MODB crossing).
I can't remember anything else now...

So, I think Dwarves should get some new heroes.
I pretty much liked EA's idea to make Brand, the Captain of Dale (for Rotwk). It would be nice if you would added him (or better, his father, Bard) for the Dwarves faction, because they really need an archer-hero. He would be a cheap hero, because Dwrves haven't got any cheap heroes anymore.
One day I was playing Iron Hills map and I noticed a a bear. Of course this bear was harmless, but it still made me remember of the mighty Beorn. So, I posted a reply on EA-LotR Forum, hoping that they will add him in the 1.06 patch. Of course they did not. But I still think it would be nice to have Beorn in SEE (He wasn't in movie, but was Smaug?). It would be really great to have Beorn as a hero and his kind as a new Dwarven unit.
He would cost a lot (Something like 3000 - 4000). I was also thinking a little what his powers would have looked like and I came up with this:
1. Power - level 1 = Transformation (He can transform in a giant Bear, like he would get mounted, except he becomes much more powerful, but reheals much, much slower - he would also loose Natural Aura and Call the Herd powers)
2. Power - level 3 = Natural Aura (Creatures near Beorn heal faster - works only if in "Human" form)
3. Power - level 5 = Howl of Rage (Beorn get's +200% damage, +50% armor for /I'm not sure how many/ seconds)
4. Power - level 7 = Leadership (Leadership for Beornings, heirs of Beorn)
5. Power - level 10 = Call the Herd (Transforms a large amount of enemies into animals)
I think Beorn would look really nice in Dwarven faction.
P. S. I've also added a nice picture of Beorn.

If Beornings are included, it should be Beorn's son Grimbeorn. Beornings are probably a better fit with Elves...they lived in the area between Northern Mirkwood and Lorien, and also guided the High Pass to Rivendell. They'd be an okay Inn unit for Elves...strong melee units with lots of health...the Elves main weakness. I have mixed feeling about this, though, since factions need weaknesses.

I almost positive that King Brand of Dale will be included in the next version, and possibly his son Prince Bard (later King Bard II). Bard the Bowman was dead by the time of the WotR. Dain's son and successor, Thorin III Stonehelm, is another likely possibility.

1. "Bard the Bowman was dead by the time of WotR" - Wasn't Smaug dead as well?
2. "Beornings are probably a better fit with Elves" - They had nothing to do with Elves. In the time of WotR elves of Mirkwood rarely traveled out of their wood (they had enough troubles in there already).
3. Grimbeorn... Ok, but I've got no idea why not Beorn himself...

That's not the case with Bard, though. His descendants King Brand and Bard II both took part in the WotR...no need to resurrect the dead when there are live characters available. Same with Beorn and Grimbeorn
Beornings weren't really with either the Dwarves or the Elves. They had occasional dealings with both, though, since they held the High Pass Road that both Legolas and Gloin took to get to Rivendell (Gloin mentioned the high tolls they charged for passage). From a gameplay perspective, though, it makes more sense to place them with Elves since the Dwarves are already stacked with tough melee infantry. Maybe just make them an Inn unit available to all Good factions (if the Beornings are to be included at all).

wouldn't the archer hero be King Brand not King Bard? Unless you mean the son of Brand then it would be Prince Bard the II
Sorry, I ALWAYS mix those up...
