Perhaps it would work better as one big horde, like the six Nazgul in RotWK. I also think that Balin should be included, or be in Dwalin's place.

Is Dwalin being included as one of the heroes. If so, and if the SEE team decide to have Balin I think he should be seperate so the Dwarves get more heroes, which they need to be honest.

They have about the same amount as Moria I think. But I do think both would be good, I just thought Balin was more of a main character than Dwalin, plus mentioned in the movie.

Yeah, but I think ALL the factions should have the same no. of heroes... But then again, as someone said in a thread I saw earlier, having too many heroes turns the game into a hero-based game and it really should be a unit-based one...

'Tis unfortunate that the Nazgul throw the balance a little, though.

Yeah, Mordor are way overpowered. They have the best heroes (9 fricking fellbeasts!) The best cavalry (Mumakil, or at least until 4.7 when they will be moved to Rhun) and the best seige (GROND)

I'm sure it will all be cleared up when they start balancing stuff.

G'day Gfire

Ummm pardon my ignorance but I thought Balin did die in the war of the ring. As far as I know the first kingdom to fall at the start of the war of the ring was Balins kingdom under the mountain. Defeated by the goblins. Gimli even said in the movie that the fellowship would get a royal welcome there. They had no clue ( except maybe gandalf ) that the kingdom had already fallen. Sure it's not a part of the saga but to defeat an entire kingdom would surely seem to me to be part of the war of the ring. It was a few years before the open attacks on the plains with Rohan and Gondor but every war has a cold war to begin with and Balins kingdom was the target in the cold war. Underground where little help could be found. I would have done the same thing if I was Suaruman ( did I spell that right? ) Take out any forces that might come to the aid of Gondor and Rohan, quickly and quietly before going up against the men of the west in open warfare.

But it has been stated many times before that this is a mod of the movie not theory.

Just my crazy thoughts  ;)

Hi ttandchotmail,

In the books is not like that. It was a small Dwarven colony, not a whole kingdom, which had secured a part of the mines despite they knew there were goblins around yet. The Dwarves of Erebor haven't had news from them in quite a long time, so they were already expecting the worse.

G'day Arthadan

Thanks for the info  I was just going by what I saw in the movie ;) So was Balin even a king? If it was just a small colony it seems strange that a king would be appointed.

Hi again!

Balin was Lord of Moria, but he wasn't called "King" as the portion claimed by his people was small.

I was thinking of a few new heroes for the Dwarves as well as some of their powers

1. Gimli
2. Gloin
3. Dain

4. Bilbo
Hobbit Feet (Lv 1)- allows unit to temporarily stealth from enemy units
The Great Burglar (Lv 3)- allows units to earn resources for each kill
5. Prince Bard
Toggle Weapon (Lv 1)- allows unit to switch between bow and sword
Leadership (Lv 3)- provides attack and defence boost to nearby Dale units (Passive)
Cripple Strike (Lv 5)- deals excellent damage to enemy hero and roots them in place for a medium duration
Monster Slayer (Lv 7)- kills singlle target enemy monster
6. Thorin
Leadership (Lv 1)- provides attack and defence boost to nearby Dale units (Passive)
Stubborn Pride(Lv 6)- all nearby allies gain resistance to fear (Passive)
Summon Dwarf Companions (Lv 10)- summons mini-heroes Óin, Dwalin, Bifur, Kili, Fili, Bofur, Dori, Bombur, Nori, and Ori to battlefield for medium duration (btw, we could just make one hooded/cloaked model of a dwarf and then give them their respective colours of clothing and beards as described in the Hobbit)
7. Beorn
Toggle Weapon (Lv 1)- allows unit to switch between bow and sword
Leadership (Lv 3)- provides attack and defence boost to nearby ally units
Call of the Wild (Lv 6)- summons herd of ponies to stampede target area
Skin-changer (Lv 8)- temporarily becomes a bear with tremendous crushing power
8. Balin
Slam (Lv 1)- causes meta damage to buildings
Bravest of Dwarves (Lv 4)- all nearby allies gain resistance to fear (Passive)
Leap (Lv 6)- leaps to target area causing excellent area damage
9. Giant Eagle
Winged Saviour (Lv 1)- allows unit to pick up target ally hero and drop in pathable location

(The bold is the new heroes/adjusted powers. The other three are just to show how many heroes there are now...)

That would be awesome IMO, what do you think?

Also, how about we add Dwarven Crossbows (as a basic ranged infantry unit) and then move axethrowers to an elite ranged infanty unit?

G'day Arthadan

Thanks again for the info ;) Always good to reference the books in these matters ;)

G'day Prince

Looks like you've been thinking about this for a while, nice work  A stampede of ponies could be a little strange though

I said that I didn't understand why they added Dwalin and not Balin, did I not?

Prince: They already have Brand, who lived during the war of the ring. I think Bard is unnecessary.

G'day Gfire

I read your last post and it just seemed as though you were talking about Balin being a better possibility than Dwalin to go into game. And that just got me thinking about the numerous conversations I have seen about Balin not being a part of the war of the ring. Arthadan was nice enough to let me in on the details from the book ;)

The reason Naz put in Dwalin instead of Balin was because many of the lore people (excluding me) didn't like him because he was already dead when the War of the Ring started. He technically (according to them) died before the first battle of the WotR started.

seems a little crazy to me. ;)

@ gfire dude firstly Gimli was being sarcastic. It's one of the cock ups of the film making dwarves silly. A dwarf would of had more stamina than a man or an elf
-Anarion son of Eldarion.

Not that this is particularly relevant anymore, but that's actually not true. The movies took that line straight from the books, in fact, while Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas are running to try to catch up to the uruk-hai that captured Mary and Pippin, Gimli actually asks Aragorn and Legolas to stop to rest for a while or to eat atleast like three times. I would have thought what you said too but its right there in the beginning of the first book of Two Towers.

Yeah, well, my argument is that the Great Goblin and Bolg and Azog etc. also died during the Hobbit (Azgo even earlier). None of them were present in the war of the ring. If we can include those goblin heroes I think we should include balin. He was one fof the main of the thirteen dwarves and Dwalin was the least mentioned...

^their argument^

they're willing to make concessions for the goblins due to low amount of available heroes. It really is nice of them to compromise like that.

ultimately, Nazgul decides who makes it and who doesn't. and you can always mod the mod for yourself. :p
