In The Hobbit Dain's army uses mattocks, so those would be perfect for veterans.

The difference is that a War Mattock is a Mattock used in well.......... War. Mattocks and picks are different from each other

There is a difference (But not much of one) :D ... I would say, that they should just be designed to look different (Seeing it is all a matter of perspective).

Yes, they are only used for battle! I might have them repair things in the future. But not at this stage. They are the spam units of Erebor faction, like the Peasants are for Men. I've explained this all over :D

@ Lauri I don't think they(dwarf riding pony) is supposed to be fast, because Dwarves aren't fast. This is part of their factions uniqueness. I don't know about the practical aspects of adding it but it would add some variety to the dwarven heroes, and would be cool i think.

I kinda like the idea too... but there's no time for Beta 4.7 though, so we'll have plenty of time to think about it for Beta 4.8 =)

The ponies were still never used in battle. In The Hobbit, they only rode them across country to get to the battle. Perhaps Dwarven Dragoons?

They didn't use ponies to get to the battle..
They used them to get to the mountain

Face it, ponies aren't meant for battles :shiftee:
And if they aren't suppose to be fast, then there's no point in dwarves having them... IMO, it would only lead to better target if any dwarf rode a pony :crazed:

They didn't use them for speed, but for long distance journeys. Gimli said in the movie that Dwarves are sprinters, so for long distances they could use ponies. I do agree that they aren't needed in this mod, though. They really wouldn't be used once as close to the enemy as in a skirmish.

Edit: Almost forgot. Here is a picture that might be useful.

@ gfire dude firstly Gimli was being sarcastic. It's one of the cock ups of the film making dwarves silly. A dwarf would of had more stamina than a man or an elf.

@Lauri you are totally bursting my bubble dude. haha

It is just a pic I found while searching for something else. It is a game piece, I think. It's supposed to be the thing that pulls the Dwarven siege.

And what pulls the dwarven siege is the mini-version of what pulls Grond... for Mordor :p
Yeah, it's stupid

G'day to all

Perhaps the horny things that pull the dwarven catapults could be deleted and replaced by dwarves pushing the catapult. . . maybe.

And just on the catapult subject. I had a thought on them the other day, could be good but could be insane. They have the option to throw a barrel and we all know the result they have ( fire damage ) I'm thinking what if the barrel bounced? I recall the old dam busters from WW2 they droped the bombs on the water and they bounced on the water a few times before coming into contact with the dam and exploding.

I'm thinking something similar. The barrel is lauched, it bounces once ( maybe twice ) giving a small amount of meta impact where it bounces. And then bursts open on the second or third bounce to release the oil that catches fire. This would increase the range of the barrel but the boulders would of course remain at their usual range.

Just a thought I wanted out of my head so I could retain something new :shiftee:
No chance of returning....Zero chance of surviving....Well!? When do we get started?

In my opinion, I think Balin should be included as a hero. I mean, the dwarves need more heroes.

Also, if we're going to include The Great Goblin in the Moria Faction, a character who was in the Hobbit and was slain only pages after first appearing, surely we can include Balin. Our main excuse seems to be that Balin is dead before the War of the Ring, well, so is the Great Goblin.

I had a crazy idea yesterday whilst reading the Hobbit... Could we make models of all the 13 companions (other than Bilbo) of the Hobbit and include them as heroes? I think most of you (and even me) qill regard it as a bit too much, but I just want to see the 13 dwarves in their respectful coloured-hoods like I see all nine of my Nazgul on fellbeasts. It would be so cool, but I doubt its possible or whether will even make the game better.
Ignited into the world in a flash of lightning, it gleams faintly in the heart of its mother, wood. It begins as an ember, a mere wisp of heat and colour. Its chance of survival at this critical moment is minute, yet it fights on, against the unforgiving cold, against the depths of night and against its mortal enemy: rain.
