I will admit that having a spear-throwing calvary unit would be fun and it could serve a purpose (such as taking down larger monsters) but I think that Rohan might already have enough calvary units.... Not only that but if it's going to cause gameplay issues (such as an unbalance) then I think that it would be better if Rohan just had the units they currently have.

I think the Rohirrim shouldn't be throwing their spears. They are allready pretty good, so we don't need them to be any more powerful.

Any plans on doing something more with the Yeoman scouts? They either need a big price drop, or some cool ability.
They could benifit from the spear throw more than any other unit since they only have 3 units in a battalion and can go faster than normal units. They could be a slightly more spamable cavalry and an early Rohan unit. This would work as long as they still have low HP.

Tbh they're pretty rubbish, and I'm not sure but I think the team wants them only as scouts, no more. I personally don't think they're powerful enough to take on anyone, so they're only good as scouts. So a price drop would be good.

Also, I think the Rohirrim are slightly underpowered due to their HP.

Rohirrim Spearmen do NOT need any special abilities. Any more powerful, and they'll essentially be a mini-hero horde.

That being said, Rohirrim Axemen ought to be able to buy Horse Shields.

I like the scout spear throw ability...it would give them some purpose on the battlefield.

Rohirrim really are strong enough in the new beta, I don't think they need any abilities.

as yoda said - giving spear throw to rohirim scouts, is good idea. propably better then giving it to normal rohirrim, thx the spear, the scouts might be good counter against monsters ( troll like ), and would be therefore at least a bit more usefull.

as for the yowmen ( sp? ), i like the two wariants ( bow, spear ), the spear ones are great vs. monsters, and are good addition to the castle defense, especially vs goblins, and mordor who use trolls pretty much ( at least on brutal, dunno about lesser ones, for i do only brutal ).
what i want to ask about are the peasants - they are rubbish, even with forged blades, it takes 4 peasants to take down one basic mordor orc ( i mean single units ). Could they at least be quick, if they are this shitty ?
- the power that gives them weapons ( fortress upgrade ), could reload faster, and if possible, it could upgrade faster too

Peasants...we have no idea yet :blink: They'll be getting repair if they dont already have it...but other than that, we haven't decided anything yet. Spear throwers are also great for taking down rams and catas from a distance.

Prehaps we could give the spear throw to the royale guards, also spearmen need to be buffed hardcore and be strong, when im playing a skirmish game as rohan against the Goblins, i have no way to counter there mountain troll spam.

Spear throwers and archers...cav is weak vs monsters. And as I've mentioned several times, they have been buffed for private beta :blink: All cav has, but rohirrim especially so.

dunno about the new beta, but spear throwers suck, vs rams - they are great vs monsters, catapults, and even heroes, but two combined hordes ( means 4 uncombined ), with FB, did little dmg to mordor battering ram.
i had to use the wall secret passage, take out hero and kill it this way.
soo im not sure about rams, . . . but vs everything else its cool

spear throwers are not just ranged pikes (sort of) but they are sort of like archers in that they are weak vs. siege so that should be expected.

and dont forget normal pikes as a counter to any monster units. its really not that tough to take them out if you have the units to dedicate to it (or at least the units to pull away from another battle to do the job).

ok..... i think that rohan should get rid of the elven archers...(they dont appear in the books) and get some Wosei (druadan,Pukel-men)....to have as elite archers... they should have very poisonous arrows (2x stronger than goblins) and be stealthy. They should look like goblins but a bit larger and have human faces.... and i just remembered.... drums... they should use drums for a buff or a debuff
Also if adding these Wosei they should have a hero... GHAN-BURI-GHAN

well to me this sure sounds interesting, archers with drums,

i dont agree with stealth, nor with stronger poison. Instead of piosont - let them launch arrows, that would debuff enemy unit ( like 20% dmg and armor reduction, for 2 minutes or soo ), it would be " autofire " ability. and pretty nasty too, ( debuffs can be pretty big " pain in the ass " and for regular unit to be able to do this on batlefield, thats pretty good thing to have )

in the books the druadan were very stealthy... and it said...when orcs shoot at them with poisonous arrows they responded with arrows even more poisonous
and they also used drums to comunicate and scare the orcs...these are the guys that showed the rohirrim they way trough druadan forrest
