You actualy read all 4 pages that were posted today?

Well anywho, I don't think a battlefeild should have civilians and crap either, but it's not the usual battlefeild. The game would be more realistic with tents and quickly built seige labs, but it has stables, barracks, walls, fountains, giant fortresses, smiths, farms, mines, and so on. You even see civilians build the stuff, so it would benifit the realizim of the game style we're supporting by creating actual civilian structures. Get my drift?

I agree there. To be a military environment it needs just quick tents. No forts, no real solid buildings. But it does, and you only get those at a city or large fortess. So we each have valid points here.

Yea, I know. Might have to vote on it or make a compremise; Like we could just do the civilian thing, exept not make it as complicated as we have been making it, becuase like he said, we are just trying to make thing complicated in a way.

...That was about five pages in two days. People have been busy :good:

A barracks has to be large enough to house many soldiers, a seige works has to be able to build huge machines, etc. A house might be home to five people. Thus, houses would be pretty small, and easy to fit in between your other buildings, thus solving the space problem and allowing for a more crowded, city-like look. Just make sure you don't close yourself in.

I wasn't thinking big houses, just enough to make the Gondor base look a little more crowded.

Imo, soldiers build the buildings, not civilians. I don't see a need or reason to have civilians and houses on the battlefield, and it would look even weirder if only one faction had it.

if we take it this far with gondor then it is only a matter of time before we go there with the other factions.if we pass this proposition through then arguments to do the same thing or something similar to all of the other factions will start and will be much easier because you can just say "well gondor has it."
i dont really want to see the entire face of the game changed in this respect. perhaps its just yoda, dojob, and i...

hmm...if the soldiers built the buildings, they'd be nothing more that some sticks, rope and a large piece of canvas....

What, because soldiers are mindless drones who can't follow blueprints or have no creativity?

Because Soldiers don't have the time to build full hardened stone buildings. It take a lot of training to be a mason. You can't also be a trained soldier. People only get one life. If soldier's built it it would be wood.

Unless they're like CoH engineers :good: those builders were pretty good with their flamethrowers :p

Well, I figure builders are construction experts hired out by the military then :good:

I suppose it is unnecessary crowding in a battlefield situation. What if it was only houses, not civilians. Think of the counterpart: Rohan has farmhouses, Arnor does as well (which are both as unusual as a house of stone), Elves have a Mallorn tree.

Hmmm, how about a granary? Just so it'd be something new...

Yes we do hire out for some building jobs, but the modern military has an entire corps for building now. For the Army it is called the Army Corps of Engineers. Fryo you hit the nail on the head.

blacksmith simply makes more sense than reworking the gameplay. and just to regurgitate a bit; its unique, faithful, and makes logical sense.
