Elves already have Haldir, Elladan, and Elrohir as toggle heroes, and keeping Knife Fighter as a temporary thing will make it more tactical (you gotta use it at the right time instead of just switching back and forth) and helps Legolas stay unique from the above heroes as more of an archer specialist.

But none of those heroes are available to the Mirkwood sub-faction from the start in that capacity.. ;)

Well, at the moment, every hero is available with full powers, unless I've missed something recently.

yes but the plan is taht they will not get any powers and their cost will be increased until you get their aid.

Hmm, my bad then, I was pretty sure it wasn't a toggle previously. Either way, I think a toggle would be cool, especially if it sounds like Mirkwood doesn't start with a decent melee fighter.

Legolas is good how he is, I think. Maybe his attack speed could be increased to what it was originally? 'twas like, an arrow a second or something ridiciulously great like that.
I think he needs a Leadership power like Gimli, though. Or something else, like a Beast Slayer shot. After all, the movie shows him doing some amazing stunts to a Mumakil, and he shoots down a few trolls.

One problem is with the Elven Fortress in RJ maps. The walls are wayyy too weak, the segments are too small (you should join them?), and can't be repaired. A troll with a stone could knock one down in seconds, and then the Elven base is permanantly at risk.

Thranduil should have Elven Cloak as a temporary power, just like the Mirkwood Archers. Otherwise, he could start randomly shooting at nearby enemies when he's supposed to be hiding, and blow his cover.

Bleh, that stupid cloak. If he's always wearing it, shouldn't the ability be passive? I wish there would just be a stealth mode along with the agressive and defencive, not have to make it a special magic power.

ok if you put thranduil in defensive mode and/or press 's' (means stop) he will never attack unless you tell him to. and i believe it is passive for thranduil.

the elven fortress is supposed to be weak as you dont exactly think of massive stone walls when you think elves; they wouldnt have built huge walled fortresses i dont think (not like gondor or dwarves anyway). the weaker walls really jsut make you play the elves differently than the other good factions. and i dont think you can repair felled walls for any of the other factions either...

Yeah, but the walls are so weak that your fortress could be under immediate threat as soon as the enemy build a troll.
At least have a rebuild wall option, for Elves and the others. It would cost, though.

I always lose as elves for some reason.... unless I get upgrades early game which means it's pretty much rush, destroy enemy economy buildings while protecting your own, for some reason AI always tries to fix economy buildings before building anything else. I never use walls for elves anyway, such a waste of resources, if they're going to be weak then make em cheaper.

Well, now the elves don't have walls, at least at the mooment.

I do find it is hard at the moment to hold the early game with the elves. However, once I get past this, I can usually seep through the mid and late game stages.

Even if the walls are breached by like a troll or something, the main gate is the only way they can get in, at least on my computer. They can't go under the walkway, my computer still thinks there's a wall there, I think.
I'm creeping, not gone.

That's one thing the elven castles have over all of the other castles. As it is though, I think that those castle are going to be...redone or replaced.

Actually, the Noldor built a lot of fortresses in their height in the First Age, and keep in mind much of the knowledge the Men of the West had came from Numenor, which in turn came from the Elves themselves.

Elven architecture is highly dependant on location and the type of Elves we are talking about. The Noldor, for example, tended to build their cities of stone, with heavy fortifications and high towers - Gondolin, for example. The Sindar, on the other hand, were more well known for building their homes in caves - such as Menegroth and the kingdom of Thranduil in Mirkwood. Caras Galadhon is a bit different due to its location - doubtless the Elves were reverant of the rare mallorn trees to such an extent that they did not wish to see them come to harm, and instead built amongst the trees rather than apart from them.
