Even if the wood was completely dry, it would be fairly unlikely. The arrow is just moving too fast and bounces off to fast to transfer enough heat to start a fire. With moist wood, it's even more unlikely.

but the point is not to kill the ram, but to kill thoose who bear it, or do you think that ram "floats" in the air moving on its own ?
you cant work all balance only about the ram itself , when theres a squad of man ( around 6 or 8 for mordor and isen, and two boars and 2 dwarfs) who move the whole thing.
And since it would be wery hard to code ram, and the ones who deal with it as target that can be killed, we just have to count these guys in the whole balance mix as well.
And therefore, the rams should be weaker, its not about to chop the ram into chopsticks, its about killing thoose who manipulate the damn heavy thing. Immobilize a ram, and its nothing more then a piece of wood ( unless* someone else picks it up - but since it would be hard to code something like "equipment " and the " crew " that uses it, we just have to take those two into one unit and balance it out thinking about both components )

therefore just decrease rams armor against piercing dmg (archers) around like -10%, and vs upgraded arrows -20%. This wont make archers "siege counter" ( as i speak ONLY about CONTACT siege, no ranged ), but gives wont make the whole thing look like " 4 battalions of FU archers shooting on a ram, and now even scratching it " - makes it more balanced

well we cant base the balance entirely on what it would take to kill the crew because then any archer hero could take it out with like 6 well-placed shots (far too few imo) or 1 battallion of fu archers could do it (also far too few). perhaps lower those percentages a bit, but not much.

*grumble* But I want my Demolishers to look beastly, not pansyish...*grumble* :p

Okay, what do you recommend?
and besides I'm just sticking to dwarven size constraints, realism, and contradicting the silly appearance of BFME2
and, I did warn you about finding my idea stupid,
finally I'm more inclined to stand by my views.
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

i newer said ENTIRELY, i said " count with them too " and even clasified as - therefore the armor needs to be weakend

wtf are you doing Dalf ? it was you in the first place who wanted thoose things weaker, and now you oposing ? really man either were on the same boat trying to get one idea work, or we all on small raft, and sink allone

omg, i never said you did. you claimed that i didnt want their armor reduced; i said that you should lower the percentages that you suggested, not remove them. by this i meant that im not suggesting we keep their armor the same, but that we jsut dont lower it as much as you had originally said.

I recommend taking the size of the ram down a bit and replacing the blow-up balloons with actual oxen. A small pony wouldn't be able to haul a decent-sized seige engine.

actually i think such dangerous thing should be big enough for people to notice . . .

just image attack troll of size like .. . . dunno, dog ? lol these guys would be more stealthy than elfes, and yet strong as normal troll. lol wouldnt like those minis to run unnoticed

same goes for mumakil, though for his size he is still underpowered. Dangerous things need to be big

Dangerous things need to be big

Meh, Gandy isn't big and besides I'd like to leave a few things inconspicuous that can do lots of damage, assuming that those units aren't much trouble to kill if spotted, such as rams. If demolishers lose their trample, then, like with other rams, they'll be defenseless against units and slow enough that you have plenty of time to spot them and take them out before they get into ur base, so a minor size decrease wouldn't hurt imo since it's not like they'll be so small that you can hardly see them...

making them smaller wont help a thing nor make em less dangerous. I dont understand why you people trying to "fix " something that works ( or looks ) perfect, hell .... rather on this, concentrate on something more important

edit: im not saing that reskin to make em even more dwarfish is bad idea ( actually the reskins shikary made look wery good ), but theres no real point in shrinking that thing

well the number of them that you see all depends on how long it takes for you to beat them now doesnt it? or rather, it depends on how long you can last against them :shiftee:
