Hasfusel, your Idears sound great and I completly agree with your banner of reunited arnor upgrade. I would like too add though that you should make it quite expencive though, because if you would be able to spam it quickly, with elven and dunedain, it would make arnor pretty OP.

also I would like to add something too the dunedain: spearman.
I read LOTR a few weeks ago and in there it was sayed that alot of the dunedain in the Grey company were carrying spears. it would also solf the 'no good spearman' problem and would give inough units to the dunedain baracks so that you could give the elves horsearchers.

further more, the spearman of the heaven should be made more expensive and more powerfull. they are practicly noldor wariors with spears, and should be alterd to reflect that.

I love the idea of the Banner of Reunited Arnor, Hasufel, exellent! :)

But I got a little confused with the Arnor Armsmen unit, I understand that they're infantry with crush resilience and are surprisingly good against monsters, but I fail to see how they can be good against horsemen and poor against spearmen, logically cavalry are the bane of all infantry, more stronger ones would give them soemthing to think about before sucumbing themselves, but I just find it too peculiar.

Perhaps a converted Spearman unit would be nice.

I object to the idea of another horse-archer unit, swif cavalry from the elves works for me.
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

I belief you understood me wrong. I meant remove the dunedain horsearchers and give the elves horse archers. then remove elven knights and make arnorien knights at the barracks recruitable. than add spearman to the dunedain barracks, because they really had those in the books.

I thought that you were complaining about how weak hobbits were, and now you're against something that could actually give them use? ;)

i never said how hobbits were weak. Get the facts straight.

How did that pertain to the topic at all?

By the way, will there ever be Hobbit Archers?

I'm all in favour of a toggle for Dunedain Rangers, but I don't think it would look so seamless. For now, let's stick with Foresters.
I love the idea of new upgrades, especially, and if you do have a toggle, I think it should first be bought at the Dunedain Camp (perhaps called Advanced Blade Tactics) and then applied to battallions of units at a relatively low cost.

Dunedain Spearmen are a nice idea, although I think they'd be better against infantry than cavalry. Remember that not all spears are anti-cavalry. As for Armsmen, they'd be useful against cavalry because of their super-heavy armor and attack. They're crush-resistant. You don't necessarily need a pike to beat a horseman. They're basically very heavy versions of basic infantry with boosts against what infantry normally fails against, namely monsters and cavalry.

I'm kind of for a Numenorian pike men in the Barracks, mainly because Arnor doesn't get spear men right off the bat, except for hobbits. I also don't like elves in Arnor makes it seem more like the Last Alliance of Men and Elves as opposed to Arnor.

Arnor was, at times, dependent on the elves for military support. I'll quote the first few paragraphs of "The North-kingdom and the Dunedain" where it talks about the war against Angmar, with elven military actions bolded for easy reference.

Arveleg son of Argeleb, with the help of Cardolan and Lindon, drove back his enemies from the Hills; and for many years Arthedain and Cardolan held in force a frontier along the Weather Hills, the Great Road, and the lower Hoarwell. It is said that at this time Rivendell was besieged.

A great host came out of Angmar in 1409, and crossing the river entered Cardolan and surrounded Weathertop. The Dunedain were defeated and Arveleg was slain. The Tower of Amon Sul was burned and razed, but the palantir was saved and carried back in retreat to Fornost. Rhudaur was occupied by evil Men subject to Angmar, and the Dunedain that remained there were slain or fled west. Cardolan was ravaged. Araphor son of Arveleg was not yet full-grown, but he was valiant, and with aid from Cirdan he repelled the enemy from Fornost and the North Downs. A remnant of the faithful among the Dunedain of Cardolan also held out in Tyrn Gorthad (the Barrow-downs), or took refuge in the Forest behind.

It is said that Angmar was for a time subdued by the Elvenfolk coming from Lindon; and from Rivendell, for Elrond brought help over the Mountains out of Lorien.

Then, again, after Arvedui's defeat at the hands of the Witch-king...

When Cirdan heard from Aranarth son of Arvedui of the king's flight to the north, he at once sent a ship to Forochel to seek him.

Cirdan sent help as often as he could, and although it wasn't enough to keep Arnor from falling in the end, he still made his best effort. Elrond did as well; which is why I believe both Elrond and Cirdan should remain as heroes for the faction, along with Glorfindel.

That's a lot of research. I'm impressed. I didn't realize Arnor received so much help from the elves.

@ Haldir74: It comes from years of re-reading the appendices. Having a copy in front of you at times also helps.

My copies of the books were Ninth editions from my grandparents, neither are in superb condition but still usable within the area of the house, but nowhere else.

But anyway back on topic: Should Cardolan have a military force of it's own being a separate realm from Arthedain? Not a whole separate set of units but one or two to give them distinction?
