what about making the rohan heroes buildable from the golden hall.. so you can completly forget your ''normal'' castle en just focus on rohan units and buildings?

Look at the ToDo list, if i'm correct this is already there :p

And i don't know if it's in the game already, but IMO Boromir, Faramir, Pippin, Merry, Aragorn should have skin changes and armor bonus as they level.
For example Aragorn:
lvl 1: strider outfit
lvl 3: normal outfit
lvl 5:Helm's Deep battle outfit
lvl 8:Black Gate march outfit
lvl 10: Coronation outfit

Boromir, Faramir, Pippin and Merry:
lvl 5:Armored outfit

yeah i agree, this would bring more diversity in the heroes... without actually adding heroes..

That's bloody smart!

It would be a good addition to every hero, even if it was just a little change like golden armour or a little motif or design on the shield (and that way it won't be too much work to be unfeasible either). In fact, if I knew anything about modding, I would do this myself being fairly handy with the ol' graphics tablet!

And hello to you all again. I haven't posted on here since the late summer, I've been too busy with university work to play this game much

I also think this is a good idea, but I would stop short of using the coronation outfit, since that is considered more kingly formal wear, not appropriate for battle. An equivalent would the US Marine Corps going to war in full dress unforms, ribbons and all. But i think the black gate march outfit is perfect for level ten.

Men should have 14 heroes like elves . And that makes to add 4 or is it 5? new heroes . If you gonna make more heroes to men here is my suggestions:
Minifaction Rohan :
Gamling , Theodred
Gondor:
Imrahil,Madril or Denethor , thoughts?

Imrahil, ABSOLUTELY, especially if there are plans to replace the Rohirrim summons with the knights of Dol Amroth. He was a central figure in the Battle at Pelennor in the books, and as such should be featured.

I do not support the idea of putting Gamling or Theodred in the game. They were not central to the plot of action and we know next to nothing about their character, qualities and abilities that it would make selecting powers for them very hard. Bluntly, they are not interesting or necessary.

No to Denethor, since it just wouldn't be in his character to actually go out into the battlefield and fight. Remember this mod's main influence is the movies, and in the movies, the character was a snivelling mental case who wouldn't even make a good support hero, since his actions were thoroughly detrimental to the defense of his country. He doesn't even fit the literary definition of a hero.

If there is anyone else besides Prince Imrahil to be added, it should be Erkenbrand, Lord of the Westfold of Rohan.

But , Theodred keept Edoras safe with his troops . But Saruman told his Commander that Theodred must die , the battle Saruman didint care about only that Theodred died. That breaks Rohans defence but Sarumans idea whas to get Rohan weeker before his last attack ;) But Saruman is stupid , why didint he attack when his was under controll of Theoden and when the rohirrim was ban from Edoras?

EDIT : Make Westfold a Mini Mini faction with one building , Westfold Barracks , there you can recruit some of these heroes, Theodred , Erkenbrand, Gamling , Grimbold . My vote Theodred and Gamling . And Westfold troops of course =)

Hmmmm....maybe Westfold troops could be a summons, identical to summoning the regular rohirrim, but as a power exclusive to an Erkenbrand hero :-)
By the way I admire your tenacity, Jonasking! ;)

i think you mean 'in control' instead of 'under control' and the ban's only in the movies. but i agree with grubbo on your tenacity, jonesking! ;)

Im reading "The lord of the rings" for the first time(The 3 books in 1) and im only on page 230 or something , when Aragorn and the hobbits are on there way to Weathertop :p . Thanks !;)

The point of heroes is to give a morale boost to infantry, not to make the faction a total powerhouse. The reason why the Elves have so many heroes is because their standard ground units are generally weak, so I believe the extra heroes were to give the Elves a fighting chance in a battle.

Besides, MotW is already powerful enough as it is, with both Gondor and Rohan together. They have 'professional' soldiers, and 'amatuer' soldiers, powerful siege weapons, powerful cavalry, professional and amatuer(ish) archers, the White wizard, the king, and all of those other nice things. Adding more heroes to this faction would seriously offset the balancing that coders have poured their vurtual blood, sweat, and tears into. :p

AGREED. This mod is still supposed to be a well thought out game, with all the included elements serving a specific purpose and function for gameplay, NOT just to solely be included because they were in the books and movies. So far, Nazgul and company have done an excellent job balancing faithfulness to the movies and serving the gameplay....much better than EA LA ever did in the entire franchise. The visual direction is much more focused (the BFME 2 art director should have been fired...he did a lousy job in my PROFESSIONAL OPINION) and the gameplay design is much more creative, faithful and fun than the official versions. But what impresses me the most is the amount of restraint Nazgul has shown in avoiding the temptation to make this mod a self indulgent tribute to the world of LOTR, by adding every character, every faction and every little detail from that world into the mod without any thought or consideration for the gameplay. This discipline and focus is what I believe is key to SEE's continued success.

MOTW doesn't need 14 heroes. If ever the day comes and Nazgul crumbles to the pressure to just include everything ever mentioned in the books, then the whole affair has just gone and jumped the shark.

Rohirrim should stay as summons.
They came in the battle for Minas TIrith and that fits perfect as a summon:P
Knights of Dol Amroth could be another Summon, But Rohirrims should stay as a summon.

I dunno. Since men can already build rohirrim, it doesn't make much sense to have a summons for them. Whereas summonining units that no other faction, even oneself, can actually build, that makes more sense to me, as it makes the summons more special as a result.

You have a valid point Grubbo. Since the Rohirrim are already a buildable unit, there shouldn't be a necessity to have them as a summon.
However, they do come in handy. You can summon the Rohirrim and use Glorious Charge on them (pending if you have Theoden present). That is a good way to dispose of ground units anytime, and a good momentum shifter.

And until there is a valid replacement for the power, most likely they're going to stay in the Spell Book. :thumbsupsmiley:

And a random thought came about while I was playing BFME1. I added Haldir to the Elven Summon. He gave a slight boost the armor etc.

I was thinking why don't you add Elladan & Elrohir to the Dunedain summon. Since they did accompany the Grey Company on their way to Pelennor Fields.

This way they're unqiue, non buildable (so you don't have to worry about where to put them faction wise), and Special Powers aren't really needed since they wouldn't level up. Just a thought.

How about changing Gandalf's Istari Light power from killing a line of enemies, to frightening all nearby enemies like in the movies ( Well with the Nazgûl anyway  )
