Harad isn't pure desert, it has many oasis within its bounds, and would undoubably have some river that flow through, not to mention quite afew town and cities that the Númneoreans surely built during their thousands of years of occupation of the region, whilst having to survive off of both the sea and pastoralists and fertile agricultural areas. It would exist and function much like Mesopotamia and the Arabian peninsula societies have existed in antiquity. (Plus if you look up Bedouin you'll find that livestock (cattle, goats, sheep) can survive in deserts if they have pastoralists (hearders, in this case) to feed them. :crazed:)

i have two questions i would like to now.

First is:

will the elves be more defensive or offensive considering they have the best archers in the whole of middle earth it would make sense? i would be guessing dwarves where very offensive.

Second is:

when will the factions be updated on the website?

I would think that Erebor are very defensive, with dwarves stonework n' stuff.

yup, and Mirkwood, aka 'elves', are for the most part offensive, but then again, they pretty much go stealth though, but when it comes to real defence, they don't have too much, if I remember correct..

Along the lines of "Harad Siege Weaons"
Would it be possible to, instead of giving them siege weapons, giving them a sort of "Engineers" unit that can chop down trees or somthing to build one on the spot? I don't have a whole lot of experience in modding but it seems like that could give Harad a viable option for siege, while still going along with their ongoing "mobility theme?"

Sorry if someone already posted something like this...

How different are RA Trolls going to be compared to the vanilla edition Trolls?

Will Gandalf use Glamdring in combat, or just his staff? Or both?
Also, will Frodo and Sam feature anywhere in the Mod?
Cheers,

Doesn't Gandalf wield both Glamdring and his staff (as both Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White) in the vanilla edition of BFME 1 already? I think it stands to reason that he'll be the same in RA.

Frodo and Sam will still be playable in the RA campaign (when it's done....eventually), but it's highly unlikely that they'll be available to any particular faction for use in skirmish or multiplayer (unless the staff decides otherwise).

And I really hope they don't, erh... we don't :p Cause they don't really fit in any faction :p

What units will/will not use banners upon leveling up?
I'd imagine Orcs, Rohirrim, and most infantry to use them, but I don't know for sure.

in fact almost all units have some kind of "banner carrier" as far as i know. just for some ( mainly stealth units ) this place is taken by captains or it might be better to call them commander who acts like banner carrier but doesnt have the actual banner. as you can imagine it is not very practical to carry banner if you are ranger or scout.

to avoid discoussion that was there several times. captains as i mention them above are different from those captains that you can see ie. as gondor units. those are single unit that provides leadership and can be attached to horde no matter if they allready have banner carrier or no.

Thanks for clearing that up, I was wondering 'bout the Gondor Captains.
Another question - what all flying units will be in the mod? Just the 'standard' Nazgul on Fell Beast and the Eagles, or will RA throw us a curve ball?
Cheers,
-mike

if you are talking about units that can really fight then just those two. otherwise there are two obvious animals that should be in
