Not really getting into this, but I have to say he didn't copy you at all. You're anything but the first to name all your characters the same; it's a time honored tradition.

yeah but i was doing it at the time he stared doing it :thumbsupsmiley:

Still doesn't mean he was copying you. Not all the people in the other RPs who had similarly/identically named characters were copying one another. People often find a name that they really like which is often a difficult process (the only name for a character I've ever been satisfied with was Jay Cadence and both those RPs died), and so it's a lot easier and more satisfying to simply use the same name.

But we should probably stop sidetracking the topic now :thumbsupsmiley:

Atreides? Arrakis? Methinks I recognise those names... Been reading Dune a bit, have we? Also, I think you meant Halcyon, not Hailycon.

i didn't mean halycon, because that would be a rip off of the Halo 1 ship class, Hailycon is the name :p

also Arrakis is the only thing i copied, i've been playing Dune : Emperor Battle for Dune, so its not much a rip thoguh, and i didn't mean it to be a rip, that was the reason that the UWSCA sucked, it was a rip and it had a bland recongizeable name.

Well, I think you'll find that generally people won't mind slight rips of things like Dune, for which we have a great respect because it's awesome. Vort just has a thing about Halo. He has a thing about almost everything. :p

Also, your repent and implied apologies are officially accepted. :)

Hang on, what? I haven't got a clue about Halo, I've never played any of the games and have no real idea what the fuss is about. I only mentioned Hailycon to Halcyon because I thought it was an honest spelling mistake. FZM, what you chattin'?

Also, forgot to mention: GJ, what's chrono technology? Didn't Nowe say at some point that time manipulation is totally out of the question? Apart from that, nice faction. I haven't been keeping up with WoW, but I don't think anyone else has drones as their speciality...

I'm using Chrono in a different way, I'm just using it as a cool alternative word for a hyper-drive xP
anyways i don't think Chrono would be good for ships, you might end up with the whole crew gone o.o

and the drones are kinda like the Frontlines: FoW style, but are controlled by AI's, doesn't seem like I'm breaking any rules, anyways thanks for the complement

PS: i changed Chrono tech to Prism Tech.

Chrono is from Red alert and Red Alert 2

it was what the allies used, it was a teleporting device(Philadelphia experiment refernce)

The Command & Conquer: Red Alert games involves a means of time travel/teleportation which was developed by Einstein as an evolution of the Philadelphia Experiment. He used it to eliminate Hitler before the rise of Nazi Germany, but in doing so inadvertently caused an alternate Second World War to take place between the Soviet Union and the Allied powers (now including Germany). The experiment led to two devices, based on its two variations. The Chronosphere, a potent but dangerous teleportation device—for it teleports only mechanized units while killing any biological matter—and secondly the Gap Generator, a building- and vehicle-mounted device that blocks radar and sight in a certain radius around the Gap unit. The game has a cutscene that briefly shows an Iowa-class battleship disappearing and mentions the “horrible aftermath” the sailors experienced. The Chronosphere also has a side effect, essentially a "return shift", when the teleported object phase itself back to the initial position after a short time. Repeated use of the Chronosphere risks the occurrence of a "chronal vortex", which is an extremely destructive phenomenon, though only for a short time.

In Red Alert 2, Einstein has perfected the Chronosphere's technology to the point where certain infantry units and the Allied Chrono Miner can teleport across the map; additionally, this second generation Chronosphere allowed for the teleportation of up to 9 mechanized units at once. At the end of the game Einstein discovers that the Chronosphere's potential can be increased by building it inside the magnetosphere's "hot spot". The result of this is that USA can use the Chronosphere on Florida Keys to initiate Operation: Chrono Storm, an all-out assault against Moscow through time-space. The expansion pack, Yuri's Revenge explains that after the war, Einstein had further upgraded the technology, resulting in the creation of the Temporal Displacement Device, which has abandoned movement through space in favor of movement through time. The only prototype is used by the Time Commando to travel back in time to the war's outbreak and erase Yuri's Psychic Dominators from existence before he has a chance to mind control the whole world.

if you could be bothered reading that then very well

basically it is teleporting tech

also, my whole faction is nearly drones(except for my band new kaltesian clones) :D
(but his drones are like stargates drones[but his are bigger]... which if i remember right didnt nowe say something against them too?)

so the things you'll have to remove(id say) is the chrono and warp gate stuff, and the drones...
(but im not sure)

The warp gates are lower tech that only transport units as big as a ACU from Supreme Commander, so its not really as "High tech" as you think, so it can't transport ships...

also the Drones are not that high tech as well, they are like the Frontlines : FoW Drones except they are controlled by an AI, not an AI for each, its a central AI that controls ALL the drones, so you could think of a ton of disadvantages there.

and i already changed the Chrono :D i decided that Chrono-drives are just a upgraded Hyper-drive which uses about between 1/4 to 3/8 less energy than usual ones...

also what happened to Nowe? i never heard him say anything about being gone, whats up? did he die on us or something? or did i just skip over some post which tells he'll be gone?

Ah, jeez...fine, I'll PM him. Although I don't see that it'll do much good seeing as you can't get PM's until you come back on the site anyway, and I don't know his actual e-mail. Ah well. So long as it keeps you guys quiet :thumbsupsmiley:

Ok, so I sent him a message entitled 'Wurd...please come back ^^', so hopefully he will :p Also, I promised that we'd post in things if he does, so don't you guys go letting me down now y'hear?

Well guys, the reason I've been gone's been posted in the Discussion area.

Anyways, yeah. NO TIME TRAVEL. As in ever. I don't do paradoxes and paradoxical effects, they get to damned confusing.

NO drones that function as those in Stargate. If they can penetrate shields, then it's a definate no. If you can teleport them behind shields, it's also a no, as most ships would have transport inhibitors that prevent this.

Ahem, but also no stargates. I'm working on something dealing with a planet-to-planet system, but theoretically it would be artifical wormholes, just like stargates, but not visible, like the stargates. Simply because light can't escape the wormhole. it would have an invisible event horizon. But yeah, so I won't approve 'stargate-like' devices.

Other then that, everything seems to be in order.
