I've redone Legolas, from scratch except for the usual parts (face from photo; hair, boots, hands from EA skins):

And here he is ingame, along with a battalion of Mirkwood Archers and their finished Banner Carrier:

The only things I have left to reskin in the Elven faction are Thranduil and the Builder, as well as probably doing individualized banners for the different units, and maybe making one or two changes to buildings.

He really looks very well done, especially on the screenshot. I always have a hard time evaluating a model or a skin just from the standard W3D/renx-gmax/Max pose, so... :p

Very good job. Although the face is taken from a photo it doesn't look distorted, that's a good point.

Thank you all for your comments :p .

And here is the last Elven hero to get a reskin, Thranduil:

Enjoy :p !

EDIT: Oh yeah, one other thing. I'm planning to release a first version of this mini-mod when I finish reskinning the Elves and making some changes to FX and such. Anybody have any suggestions for a name for it? I'm drawing a blank on anything more creative than "BFMEII: Eldarion's Edition" :p .

I added a small sash and belt to Thranduil, but I was too lazy to make a new render. However, here's the last Elven reskinned unit, the Builder:
Posted Image

Most of the skin is EA's with recoloring and some texture added, and the rest of the changes are kitbashed together. I didn't really feel like putting much effort into a builder - just wanted to make his clothing darker and get rid of the bare arms.

If I decide to get serious about this mod, I'll probably try to find a modeler to make the little necessary changes (Thranduil, Mithlond Sentries, Glorfindel, etc.) It's not so much the modeling that I don't want to do - it's the mapping and rigging.

I'm sure there is a lot of people who would be glad to help you! :p

You've done a lot more since I checked this topic last time, and it's still amazing (but I agree with some others, EA's models prevent your talents because of their form). :p

If someone (looks at the Netherlands and/or Norway) can teach me the basics of modelling, I'll be more than happy to help out ;)

Sorry, but I'm not going to be a personal teacher. You can look through the heaps of basic tutorials right on the site, and when you get stuck I'll help out. ;)

Or better yet, google around for an actual basic modeling tutorial, the ones we have here are kindof super BFME oriented, and you'll do much better understanding basics first.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Well, something broader would be nice, since I don't plan on limiting myself to the Elven faction :p .

Well, I decided to give modeling a shot (modeling with gmax/renx, that is - I've done a little with other programs) and...how on earth do you modelers deal with the crash-every-two-minutes-and-corrupt-your-file-in-the-process bugs of that program?! I could deal with the crashes, even if they were annoying, but when it destroyed my file after I'd gotten it the way I wanted and was binding it, I gave up. Any suggestions?

I don't deal with it, I have 3dsmax.

About the name, why not just call it Texture Pack? I mean that's what it is, you're not adding anything new or with a specific theme, you're reskinning. I think a simple name would do fine.

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

Grrrrr.....

The thing is, I don't want to limit myself to just reskinning. I'm learning to code and I'm learning to model - I want this mod to be flexible enough to become whatever I want it to be and can learn to make it into.
