I GOT IT TO WORK!!! :xcahik_:

I tried setting it up as Sûlherokhh suggested as an example above, unpacking my "SEE" folder somewhere else than in "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\My Battle for Middle-earth™ II Files". And it worked!

Ok, here it goes (at least what I did):
1- unpack "SEE" into "C:\"
2- SEE shortcut on desktop, set as follows:
TARGET: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth ™ II\lotrbfme2.exe" -mod "C:\SEE"
START IN: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth ™ II"
3- Launch the game through that modified shorcut

I must mention that I'm using XP SP2, so I can't say for those under Vista.

Hope this solves the problem (though I have no idea what would cause it, and why it would be solved like that) :xcahik_:

Now, that's good to hear!
Enjoy your game :thumbsupsmiley:

To the team, I'd be curious to find out what is this problem about. Doesn't it have to do with the "SEE" folder not being packed as a ".big" file ? Just my two cents...

Consider it payback for the 17 kB/sec mod download! :thumbsupsmiley:

Normally that host is faster than that, I'll try to upload it to a faster one. My old host has since recovered from that hacking incident...

[Edit] Here, this one downloaded for me at about 180 kB/sec. link

Thanks for posting that fix! :thumbsupsmiley:

Thanks go out to RJ for telling me about it!

This makes it much easier to install, because...
1. Making a custom folder is easier than finding a hidden roaming folder.
2. The shortcut can be copied 1to1 in most cases, so no fiddling in it's settings.

@LotR-Junkie: Thank you for recording the video tutorial! Explains it all! Me really likey. :evgr:

Woah! Totally missed this thread!

I actually don't have Vista.
But there is a different way to install it, so there constitutes one major problem. Second, people had see.big instead of plain old "SEE" That makes up the other problem. When you combine the two, it equals game.dat. I beleieve my manual has Vista info...that may not work. But as Junkie's tut worked, good for him. :thumbsupsmiley:
I will work on getting the new installation stuff updated, edit the manual a wee bit, and post the link to the video, etc on the first post of the other thread. Then I wouldn't mind an unpin of this thread once that's completed. As it is almost 11:00pm over yonder, I will go to bed, and I should have all day to get the stuff completed.

To whoever had the system crash/freeze thingy: have you ever heard of Dr.Watsn? Not sherlock Holmes, but the program. When ever I have a explorer window open (ie. a document folder), and I use to much RAM this thing called Dr.Watsn shows up and freezes the comp, sort of. To stop it, ctrl+alt+del ---> processes ---> end dr.watsn.
That could have been your problem. I don't knwo what it really is, but the prob just started for me.

BTW, thanks for the compliments, Sul.

How about 'right-click' then 'save link as'?
