There are things planned for Rohan's siege capabilities that nobody knows about yet. :xcahik_:

Well I don't doubt Sul's ability to make this work for ROhan's siege so I trust that he can make it work out. Hard to tell what you got planned lol.. Anyway it wouldn't be too bad to have Peasants Carrying a battering ram.. But I don't think it be cool with them carrying a catapult or especially Ballitas.. Either way Rohan will be a favorite faction to be it seems. Lots of people seem to like them. I for one enjoyed them in Battle for Middle-earth 1... But of course in this mod won't have Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli either.

Unless there was a spell to summon them, or something. That might be interesting.

I think Ents really fit with Rohan as well as with Elves. That is, the Ents didn't work with the Elves during The War of the Ring, but they did help out the men of Rohan.

That was a co-incidence wasn't it?

The Ents did see the Uruk Army marching towards the lands of Rohan, but the reason they attacked was the destruction of their own woods.

Edit: Well anyway my idea for siege would be too have Rohan use a catapult and bombard the enemy with shouting and crying peasants, those good-for-nothin people need to have a purpose within the game!
In my humble opinion ofcourse :xcahik_:

I still think that my Rohirrim Raiders idea is the most suitable siege unit for Rohan. And they could - instead of torches - throw flaming peasants at the buildings if that suits for you Wundai :p

Flaming peasants? :p I thought Rohan was a good faction!

I support Predi's Raiders, although they can't be the only siege. Battering ram seems good. The ents best. :p

I had an idea for Rohan's siege...though with my mind swimming in warhammer 40k it'll probably anger the "purists"....

Anyways, I was thinking of how every faction seems to have individual machines (or monsters) that are responsible for annihilating the enemy's structural workings. Well....since rohan is about mobility, and to give them a somewhat different feel, what if they had crossbowmen (or archers with longbows) with exploding arrows? I know Saruman was the pyro junkie out of the folks of Middle-Earth, but perhaps Rohan could have some sort of flaming arrow, more effective against buildings than units, that could completely smite the enemie's architecture. I'd say they'd probably not be all that effective against walls, especially since you could use the Rohan battering ram to break in...but still. A battalion of 5-10 guys hunkered down with all sorts of arrows and methods of destruction...and their banner carrier could have a torch instead of a banner.

Rohan could be the only faction with an actual siege battalion. Unique? Yes. Good idea? you decide.

Unique: yes
good idea: yes
Fits into BFME: no

 I had a thought that feels a little more realistic, What if say Peasants could chop a tree and became a siege unit, similar to how trolls can grab a tree and use it as a club?

Although Im still more in favor of a battalion of men on horseback being able to do this and become a siege unit, than peasants. Thanks to the movie Willow for that idea.

I think Rohan should have ents to be honest. Maybe just not Treebeard since Elves have him. but honestly Ents didn't belong to anyone.. They just dwelled in Fangorn. I am all for Peasants carrying a battering ram and I guess them launching a catapult wouldn't be bad either. Ladder= No because Isen should be only ones with that.

I'd prefer Rohirrim Raiders who can toss flaming brands over walls, etc.

We could just toss an Ent Moot in there to begin with, when we get this far =)
And then work it out as we go along

Rohan Molatov-cocktailers....XD

The torch-thrower sounds kinda cool. It'd be even cooler if they could be mounted.

While the idea of raiders is good this should be considered an early form of siege. Historically the Vikings, which were a nomadic people used traditional forms of siege equipment, trebuchets and mangonels (spelling) and even small balistas. Most of these were smaller in size so in turn could have less range and damage. I really like the idea of units in rohans army that can become a siege unit by chopping a tree down. They strike me as an on the fly type of faction as most nomadic people could make them but didn't typically produce them unless needed where they were attacking.

(Getting a bit more serious and a bit less spam-like now :p )

I think many of you have played Rome Total War, no?
Remember the rams used there and what was the first thing to hit the enemy gate/walls?

(In Lack of a better picture:)
Posted Image

Well I was thinking of something for the ram, why not model/texture the "Head of a Horse" on the frontside of the ram?
It would give the ram a more unique "Rohan" feeling?
