Hey all, been reading through the thread and can't find an exact answer

I had recently installed service pack 3 for Windows XP (lol), and now MO, won't work

The error coming up on the screen is the following:

Mental Omega Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the innconvience

I have .Net Framework 2, 3, 3.5 installed ONLY, along with Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2010 redistribute, as stated needed to launch the launcher. And yet it is still not launching.

I've run under admin aswell, uninstalled ALL game files, RA2 , YR and MO and still no go.

Need a precise way of fixing this

Running Windows XP SP3 512mb Ram (yes I've had it worked in SP2)
x86

Need any more info I'll reply to comments below, thanks!

---------------------------------
Edit: it's miraculously started working.... Don't worries about the above

I'm having multiple issues trying to launch MO (I followed all of the instructions). This is the rundown of what happens:

1. When I launch the Mental Omega Launcher i get "Something went wrong while trying to connect to the server. Please try again later" (I have 3 bars on WiFi)

2. I then click on "Play on CnCNet [0]" which does nothing, first i get a message saying "Connecting to CnCNet in 3...2...1... seconds", then the message box disappears and the mouse gets that loading circle and it stops after a few seconds. This only creates wsock32.dll in the directory

3. I click "Play on CnCNet [0]" again and get this message: "Couldn't replace wsock32.dll. Please remove the file from your game directory for auto-update to work". I click Ok and this comes up "Couldn't replace wsock32.dll. Check your permissions!"

4. I delete wsock32.dll from the RA2 directory and retry, this only creates wsock32.dll again, its step 2 again

This is where I am now. Regular offline MO ("Launch Mental Omega" button on the launcher) works fine (although it has no theme music but still sound effs and voice, presumably because I haven't yet installed the soundtrack file). I have tried everything I can think of. I tried it with Update on startup on and off, I reinstalled Mental Omega and redid the whole process a few times over in multiple directories, everything. I have no other mods except for Yuri's Revenge CnCNet which I assume is compatible since both are on CnCNet.

My RA2 is the Ultimate Collection version on Origin and the directory is: Data (D:) > Program Files (x86) > Origin Games > Command and Conquer Red Alert II

Windows 10, 8GB ram, and I downloaded it from the link on the MO website from ModDB its version 3 up to date

Windows 10

This is the problem. CnCnet4 does not work on Win10. For now you have to play singleplayer only.

Surely will not until MO moves on CnCnet5. There is no option to make version 4 work on win 10 afaik.

Run As Admin?

Antivirus firewall?

Files are in the right folder? (where you install RA2: YR)

Are you applying these changes to the launcher alone or to gamemo.exe as well? The latter is the proper way.

The updated campaign will be available in the next release, which means you can't download it now.

I'm running Windows 10 and made the HUGE mistake of pressing one SINGLE button on the MO Control Center. The dreaded 'Play on CnCNet button'. I got a friendly little error message asking me to remove the wsock32.dll file game directory for auto-update to work and told me to check my permissions (I did NOT remove it due to people saying removing is not possible or causes more problems). After this error came up, it caused even the single player mode to stop working (pressing the launch MO button does nothing). I've been searching high and low for a fix to this bug and maybe I'm just missing something. I've seen posts say that reinstalling MO doesn't work. Even if I did get MO running again, could I use XWIS or Tunngle to play online with Windows 10?

In my opinion, a glitch like this should be on the main website on the 'getting started' page if it hasn't been resolved. It's so easy to trigger and causes so many problems.

Hi, should I update the Ares patch for this mod?

I downloaded it from the website. It's latest version is 0.b. Thanks. :thumbsupcool:

To ensure everything is working as intended i do not recommend updating Ares. Not that it will not allow you to play with other players with different version of it.
