I need help, when I try to launch mental omega, it says "The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application". When I delete the wsock32.dll I can start the mental omega but I can't play LAN. Any solution?

The CnCNet4 dll should support LAN. However I'm not certain if it works on Win10.

So Click on Play on CnCNet, kill the game if it freezes, then Launch Mental Omega.

I click on Play on CnCNet, then it says "The CnCNet server seems to be down, please try again later". After that the CnCNet - Settings appeared. I had to click Cancel because if I click OK the same message appears. But after that I still can't launch mental omega, not even Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, until I delete the wsock32.dll.

The CnCNet version that MO uses is down and doesn't work (it didn't work on Win10 anyway). Don't try to play on it, as it won't work, and you'll have to remove wsock32.dll after each time you try.

Thanks for the info. But still, how can I play LAN if I have to remove the wsock32.dll?

Use the file from the post that FELITH quoted. That's a different file than the one that causes problems.
If that doesn't work for you, use fake LAN such as Tunngle or Hamachi.

I have installed mental omega on wine and I cannot make it use patched version of winsock.dll (although, vanilla YR handles it just fine).

 

I am using wine 1.9.19 under Archlinux. The winecfg is set to emulate Windows XP and to load native wsock32 first.

AFAIK Ares doesn't like the Understorm LAN patch. You nweed to use the CnCNet4 dll for playing in LAN.

It's been more than a week and still no explanation on what to do.

Ask on the MO Group's Facebook profile, i think they have a Tunngle server set up, so you should be able to play on it. Maybe they have instructions for how to join it.
I can't help you with it, though (other than telling you you'll need to install Tunngle, duh ).

I have an odd problem. Upon installing Mental Omega.3.0, and everything going fine, I launch it, but it just runs my Yuri's Revenge game instead. My Yuri's Revenge is from Origin. It runs fine, but it is still not Mental Omega :/

I have an issue when launching Mental Omega, fact is it does not even launch at all not even the launcher, it instantly crashes with the Windows message "Mental Omega stopped working" popping in for just a few seconds. I looked everywhere and I cant find a solution.

 

I use Windows 10 x64, I tested in my brother's PC and it worked fine, I even tried copying his files into my PC and nothing, He did a fresh OS install recently.

 

Hope someone can help me with this because I really want to play this mod, it so awesome.

How did you launch it? Via the launcher? And did you run Origin before playing?

Yep, tried everything, I remember playing it some 6 months ago, dunno what happened, tried to launch it yesterday and nothing.

Did you try to reinstall it? Maybe the installation is broken.
Otherwise, make sure you have .NET 3.0 and 3.5 installed. The launcher won't work without it.

Yes and yes, I tried to download a new installation and "update" the .NET, neither work.

The only way that I got it to launch (no launcher) was with the ARES .bat file.

.NET 3.0 and 3.5 have to be installed externally?
