If Soviets were the winner of Second Great War (?), Kane maybe present.

According to Mental Omega lore, the Soviet Union lost this RA1 war. The USSR was divided into independent countries with Romanov as the puppet leader of Russia (while former Soviet republics were slowly returned under Russian influence sometime before the invasion into USA/Europe).

Still, even if RA1 Allied campaign is canon here, Kane was not found, he was not present in the Allied victory FMV. He could have escaped and still be alive.

An answer to both questions, at least as far as mainline C&C lore goes, Westwood intended that Red Alert 2 was in the end, part of the main lore, and that Tiberian Dawn indeed does come from Allied victory twice. Renegade 2 that they were working on was set after RA2/YR, in the postwar former USSR, where an unknown protag was to investigate and stop a sort of Salvager's cult that had, like many many groups before them, mushroomed up in the ashes. From there, the story was supposed to delve.

The Salvagers logo. Look familiar? :p

I always wondered who is the person that writes our mission briefings in the soviet missions, he seems smarter than the other ones and he is also the one that starts suspecting Yuri being a traitor and the one who proposes to shut PsiCorps down

he also warns us in Idle Gossip about a conspiracy theory against the soviet commander and that he'll have to flee at one point, because he accomplished so many triumphant victories over the course of the invasion

Maybe an alternative version of Zofia? She was quite smart in vanilla RA2 and also warned the Soviet commander about Yuri's weird behavior and betrayal.

An answer to both of you, at least how I wrote it, she's basically Zofia, or someone clever and warm like that. As for why she was so clever, some things to bear in mind - yes she is very clever, but first of all, Soviet internal politics, both irl and here, was very, very cutthroat. And Yuri is pretty much a shifty guy to begin with, and sort of outside all of the hierarchies that matter - military, KGB, and Party, none of which helps him any further. Everyone has their uses for him, basically. And it's not exactly a secret many people would like to see PsiCorps shut down. And as for conspiracy against you, again, that's the communist system, the government. You have to be sort of paranoid to make it anywhere big.

Yes, I remember the story about Renegade 2. Scavengers, Mad Max-style Mammoth tanks, I think many people here saw those alpha build screenshots.

I also remember that I read somewhere about early ideas for RA2, where Romanov attacked the US and Allied Nations because he was manipulated by Yuri who was the real big bad all along. The idea was eventually remade into vanilla RA2 and YR that we know and played.

As for Zofia in MO - why not? We still hear her voice as Soviet EVA, so she can exist in this timeline along with other main characters.

I wonder who could be EVA for Epsilon.

As for paranoia and constant backstabbing - it goes along with every major political system and rank. This is survival of the fittest at its worst.

To avoid that kind of thing, you'll have to remove free will altogether. Since we are not some kind of hive mind entity, IRL it is impossible. It might be real in Mental Omega with all these Yuri's schemes and plans.

Hate to break the chain here but I wonder where the Allied EVA and General Carville come into play?

As far as I know about the story, they don't. Not really in any overtly significant way at least. Well Lt Eva is your briefer I believe, but her briefings aren't as warm, so make of that what you will. Yuri missions are obviously, by Yuri.

Also, as Speeder has numerously reminded me, I need to come back. I (hopefully) will be returning very soon to actually finish the briefings for Act 2, since as I understand it, everyone is completely lost without them. In the meantime, being one of the story guys, and since I wrote the Act 1 briefings, I suppose I'll try to answer any burning questions any of you have about things that are happening in either Act 1, Act 2, or any other situations. That said, if Speeder contradicts me, obviously what he says is what is. And I won't answer things that are supposed to be secrets, or could be spoilers - at least directly :p .

I'm looking through the thread, so if I start on quote walls, pls forgive.

I'm looking forward to see proper mission briefings in Act 2.

There is much information already given in the launcher descriptions and in missions themselves, but any additional flavor information and background will always be welcome.

I wish one of the Epsilon coop missions will be with Malver and Libra, one sneaks in while the other creates chaos.

Let there be light!

Not much of an issue but;
When Libra arrives the Exilian island her shuttle appears from underground rather than landing on the silo as I mostly observe in the Youtube gameplay videos.

It is not a problem that effects the gameplay but I wanted to ask anyway as it catches my eye everytime.

And, while talking about the Exilian island I hope that the name remains the same because, If you say Yuri established a secret base at Totoya island I imagine something like initiates and adepts sunbathing along the beach looking at the scenery of South Pacific drinking Coconut Milk or Mojitos while duneriders surf along the waves..

Who says they didn't?

All those fuel barrels were used for the BBQ, and they didn't have time to put them away.

Actually, you guys brought up something I've always been curious about regarding Epsilon's troops; what do they do on their downtime (if they have any)? Leaving out some of the weirder things Epsilon has (Spooks, Brutes, Bloaticks), do their troops ever take breaks from their line of work? Or do they never stop doing the work of Yuri?

I'm legitimately curious because unless it's something that has deep genetic modifications (Stalkers, Brutes, and Rahn for example), they must still have human needs to fulfill. It's been proven that troops do need some time to rest and relax every now and then in order to be the most efficient, and surely the more 'normal' troops of the Epsilon must have something like this. But at the same time, given genetic modification and the fact that a lot of their troops are possibly cloned (among other things), it wouldn't surprise me if they were able to forgo needing to take breaks every now and then.

It then leads to another question; how human are the Epsilon's infantry (and vehicle pilots, for that matter)? Troops like Initiates, Archers, Duneriders, and the like, despite being loyal to Yuri, still seem pretty human for the most part, albeit with some modifications (nothing crazy like Brutes, Stalkers, or Rahn though). Not mentioning that they still seem unsettled at times by some of the things Epsilon do, at least according to this description of the Cloning Vats:

"The difference between a clone and a real soldier are not noticeable to a commander. However, the appearance of clones on the battlefield is known to unsettle Epsilon infantry as their doppelgängers possess an inherent 'wrongness' about them, like soulless versions of the original."

That tells us that a lot of Epsilon's troops aren't insane, at least not like some of the weirder aspects of the Epsilon (Libra's straight crazy, period. Rahn is Ax-Crazy and bloodthirsty put together). Also, It's implied that some within the Epsilon ranks defected to the Foehn Revolt (if the Zorbtrotter's description is anything to go by), also telling us that Epsilon at some point in the future are so far gone that a even a portion of their own forces couldn't stomach fighting for them anymore. That tells us that their ranks aren't completely filled with crazy people, at least. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure even the mind-controlled still needs to undergo human needs. What you brought up is an interesting topic though.

Why would epsilon troops tire from just putting a finger on their forehead and creating fire?

I'm pretty sure even the mind-controlled still needs to undergo human needs. What you brought up is an interesting topic though.

It depends on how exactly mind control works.

Will it turn a human being into a brainless puppet barely capable of performing its tasks? Will it have a more insidious effect like reshaping thoughts: "GLORY TO THE SOVIET UNION / EPSILON IS YOUR MASTER", lasting until the effect is removed, while making them perfectly capable to act independently?

When we saw mind controlled people (nuke silo guy in intro/Romanov/General Vladimir/Lt. Eva) in RA2/YR in videos, they acted with a thousand yard stare and had troubles even with speaking (the last one is probably because of intense strain of will in a vain attempt to shrug off mind control).

Why would epsilon troops tire from just putting a finger on their forehead and creating fire?

In fiction it is common for psionic/psychic troops to actually feel fatigue after using their mental powers. I don't see why Initiates should be different.

Pretty sure that most of the times the Shuttle appears from the top, it did in my playthrough that I've recorded. Not sure what would trigger the other animation instead.
