Also, does anyone want to take a wild guess at what the the mission Insomnia is about?

Where we left off so far regarding the Allies' situation:

The Paradox Engine's battery is needed to be recharged after its backup battery is destroyed, leaving any hopes of retaking the North America washed down the drain.

Anyone want to take a guess as to what may happen next in this mission?

The current meta is that defense structures don't help much compared to a more dynamic unit sets. What kind of units did you build anyways? And did you keep all the Paladins alive before the attacks?

It doesn't matter when the constant wave of attacks with no delay pretty much ruins the whole deal.

Well I'm asking because I personally don't feel that it's that hard. I kept most of the army in the base as well as the buildings by converging a lot of GGIs, SEALs, tanks etc. I even managed to cap the abandoned Allied base at one point, though it was merely to delay the enemy attacks.

You could try garrisoning (literally) all the nearby bunkers to help keep the attacks off you for more than enough time, while using the Cavaliers to snipe the Plague Splatters and getting back to your defenses. The bunkers located to the left can cut down enemy reinforcements by a quarter (or even more), while the bunkers at the bottom should keep one-third of the full force off you if coupled with Cavaliers/Mirage Tanks. Just remember to bring in Repair/MG IFVs and GGIs to help out a bit more.

Don't mind me, I'm just pretty broke nowadays...

That's true, if only said attacks aren't that aggressively "relentless".

But not that I'm having a problem here, it is just that some folks can't handle the pressure too much. Perhaps the arrival/return of the load-save system that might help them or not.

Look... I suck at microing stuff, and that's why I went for the heavy bunkering strat that worked instead :p

Scout up, wall entrances with combo of paladins and blizzards/SEAL IFV, keep pumping GGIs for tanks and post them in your base. Cap any Oil Derrick you can get. If at any moment you ceased on creating something, you're doing it wrong.

EDIT : Okay, it's honestly been awhile since I've done this... so I've tried Relentless again on Easy as everyone seems to be having problems with it on that difficulty.

This is the initial force I have when I conquered the base. I've waited for my units to recover first before mounting the attack. I took a more careful approach. As you can see, I have a lot of initial units on the view and more to spare on the back

Spoiler

This is after 6+ minutes, about half through the attack. As you can see I've already expanded further and spread my initial units while losing some of them, yet still retain a whole army through all the attacks (Prism tanks are very useful against infantries).

Spoiler

This is the final result. Not so much units lost after last picture. It's a tight defense, and I've retained 3 of my mini expansions.

Spoiler

See? It's not even a close call. I only lost one bar of health from WCD and no structure losses in base. I'm far from the best player in MO, never even completed the campaign on Normal.

Well, given the fate Allies seem to be inevitably headed in the story, I'd guess their missions generally take place before their numerical equivalents in Soviet and Epsilon campaigns during the later half of Act II. Following this, Unthinkable has been teased to feature the Paradox Engine on the side of your opponents. Derived from this line of speculation... I would actually guess that Insomnia takes place in a side theatre of some sort prior to the assault on Antarctica. Perhaps in Boston? I seem to recall the messages in Mind Over Matter reading that the Allies had taken control of the beacon in the city, which seems like an awfully specific thing to bring up.

On the flipside, Insomnia could refer to the sleepless nights by Allied command after the Engine is shot down by Epsilon, and the mission itself is about salvaging whatever there is left of the forces.

Mostly in it for the lore. Although, I do enjoy basebuilding as well.

hmmm impressive, that would be a good tip in the wiki in case some people want to try a strong turtling strategy. in fact that one of the problems in that map is microing after capturing the Allied Base especially right after the scorpion cell appears

The best part of it is that I forgot to capture the Tech Machinery the whole time the invasion occured.

I think the problem is that for one, I never went for the expansions and oil rigs, because they seemed too protected for me.

Er.... I don't know. It's not a whole lot of army. Those Invaders really just tickles your tanks, infantries get KO'd by Prisms, while you can bait the tanks and have the mirages finish them off.

I didn't even need those. I just pop in all 4 reinforcements into the army and watch them obliterate the oil rigs defenders.

I have an irrational fear of infantry in MO, because they are OP as fuck, and they eat vehicles for breakfast.

If you know which infantry is Anti-Tank and take them out first, then you shouldn't have any problems. Don't tell me that you've been using Mirage/Cavalier/Base Archon to kill infantries

And with the official confirmation of Save/Load return, we also get a few seconds of videos on future missions:

- What I think is footage showing Insomnia, which seems to involve aeronaval assault against Epsilon, with not one, but two AI allies (and grey as a third color for Allies). And Epsilon troops sporting shields.

-Earthrise: Maybe we won't be that outnumbered against that Epsilon infantry, if the red damage Cloning Vats are a cue. Also seems there will be potential for getting our hands on an Epsilon MCV.

-And of course, juicy wonderful hints about Foehn Origins... For instance geetting confirmation about being teal for these missions, meaning we'll have to fight our ways through the Chinese bases from the teasers *cracks neck*. Yunru is still well, although I didn't spot any Heavy Troopers amongst the paras for now....

It doesn't seem to be shields, it's the sign that Paradox Engine has been activated.

In one of those teasers I spotted a different kind of cyborg like hero (2nd one I think) that definitely looked like the Cyborg Boris. I believe that was from the "Machinehead".
+I believe that most of the Foehn Origin missions gathers around China. As was seen on the Ares Trailer with Quilin Tanks etc. Which is good because I always wanted a decent Chinese mission that player controls on Soviet Campaign.
