Here is the Dol Amroth Stables. You can get forged blades at lt level 1, dol amroth fighters and heavy armour at level 2 and knights of dol amroth at level 3.

Now to cap things of ive got 10 mins of ingame footage of southern fiefdoms. parts are abit laggy, thats do to the recording program. Its still a nice watch and gives a better feeling of the faction. I was Southern Fiefdoms going against a mordor and evil men brutal ai's.

Download the Southern Fiefdom faction footage here.

note that the above upload is the low res version. The high res version should be released later, as its taking awhile to upload. but the quaility of the video should be worth it.

hmm i think thats it for today, i hope that makes up for the lack of updates of late, as i evidently have been working. :p

Nice update StealthSnake :)

Too bad the photobucket screens are no longer visible, you know you can always upload your stuff here at Revora, you are hostee afterall. :p

And I have to ask you to resize the images a bit next time. I'm browsing with a resolution of 1280 * 768 and these screenshots are too wide for my screen. Keep them at 1024 * 768 max.

Also, you may want to change the screenshot of "Duinhir with his men of anfalas and morthlond.", just above the hero descriptions. ;)

Firstly some screen shots taken by the beta testers....well actualy all taken by caluadan, of the new private beta.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Secondly, ive been working and pretty much finnished a Snowbourne map. Basicly It was a city near to the river Snowbourne. So i thought it would make anouther cool fortress map for Rohan.

This is the main keep area, basicly where you would put your armoury and expensive production buildings.
Posted Image

This is the path leading up to the keep
Posted Image

here are the 3 gates
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

and a couple of veiws from the keep
Posted Image
Posted Image

Basicly theres a low cliff at the back, going around the keep with a fence going around the top edge of the cliff. There is one way up, and thats up the path. There is then a walkable wall enclosing a large area at the bottem, which has 3 gates. It is a 2v1 map. Outside the walls there is 2 beacons and a outpost. The player inside Starts with 2 inns, due to their limited space for farm building.

This should be released with the first release of rohan.

Tom,

Historically speaking, your knights of Dol Amroth, (Specifically the horses) are too "covered".

Naturally, by what Tolkien tells us, the Dol Amroth Knights that accompained the Imrahil Prince were his elite bodyguard, and the regular knights were also of a high caliber.

IMHO (Humble being the extra word), it's of the same breed and basis of the Paladin Knights of the British ranks. Very elite, very powerful and very well armored. The Knights just look to.. "Bland", like their horses would go down in one arrow. Perhaps updating the skin to reflect such a thing?

On the same point with the horseman, they couldn't wear plate armor and gauntlets as they wouldn't be able to grip the lances. Normally they work chain mail on the arms and plate armor on the chest. Also allowed the horse to move slightly faster

Just a thought

hmm very true. But its nertea you need to take it up with not me, as they are his models. Which im not gonna even try to edit them cus
1. id make them look terrible
2. id be slowly roasted over a fire by nertea

anyway, todays update.

For those that did not see the big news yestaday on bog's site. Elves are not now going to feature in bog, but evil men of being split inti Rhun and Harad.

So todays update is of the rhun flavour.

Firstly, the new stats screen.
Posted Image

Here are the Rhun Watch Towers
Posted Image

Here is a back view of the fortress, with house and tower expansions.
Posted Image

Here is the Rhun Barracks (Left) and the Rhun Stables (right)
Posted Image

Here is the Rhun palace (left) and the Rhun Armoury (right)
Posted Image

Here is Uldor with the Rhun Palace Guards
Posted Image

and lastly, Variag Archers, Variag Cavalry archers, Khand Mercenarys and Ulfang.
Posted Image

Rhun
Rhun is a large barren land with plenty of towns, citys and villages. Thier main focus is in archery. But they also have a som nice cavalry to choose from, including Easterling Kataphrakts, Variag Horse Archers then the devastating Wain Riders.

The Rhun Barracks, trains all the basicly infantry for Rhun. Including easterling Bowmen, Variag Archers, Easterling swordsmen and Easterling Spearmen.

The Rhun Stables trains all the cavalry for rhun, and of cause wain riders.

The Rhun Palace trains all the elite units, such as palace guards, Easterling Axemen and Khand Battering Ram.

Fortress basicly the same as it was in ealier versions of bog, except with the harad market replaced with the Rhun House. The House...you guessed it, gives extra command points. It also privides a extra barrier agaisnt siege weapons.

Ive also updated the Rhun Faction page on the site :p

*wanders in*

Historically speaking, your knights of Dol Amroth, (Specifically the horses) are too "covered".

Sorry, too covered? Do you mean the horse barding? Because if so you are partially right. The horse is done in the chain and cloth fashion which is more common to near-Eastern styles. European horses had shorter, generally more plated armour.

Naturally, by what Tolkien tells us, the Dol Amroth Knights that accompained the Imrahil Prince were his elite bodyguard, and the regular knights were also of a high caliber.

Yep.

Despite not really being sure on what "paladin" knights are, yes, the DA knights are elite. I've based their chest/skirt areas off the more well-known Knights Templar, who did not wear a full plate harness and wore tunics over their armour. If you can't see the armour, don't assume it's not there. The horses have a chainmail barding (again, in the middle eastern style), with cloth worn over it.

On the same point with the horseman, they couldn't wear plate armor and gauntlets as they wouldn't be able to grip the lances. Normally they work chain mail on the arms and plate armor on the chest. Also allowed the horse to move slightly faster

*yawns* Go look at some gothic plate armour and then we'll talk. Italian style plate too... they both have examples of extensive plate gauntlets. The examples you're thinking of are later and earlier period armours, for example late Spanish, that pretty much dropped the arm armour in favour of maneuverability. The true 'knight's objective was mass, not as much speed in a charge, so as to be much more damageing. Also consider that the main mass of armour doesn't lie in the relatively thin arms, but in the helmet and chest areas.

If you want a full discussion based on LOTR material as to why I designed them that way, I'd be happy to oblige.

Anyways, mod's looking nice stealthsnake... are you going to put the Variag axemen in?

sig.png
I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.
