Actyally I did get the idea of redsand archers and umbar guard from the Fourth Age mod, but I liked the names a lot so i took inspiration from it. To describe the Redsand Archers, they can't register armor upgrades, they accomplish high levels of damage and speed, but reletively weak, kinda like the dern deepers. I thought of Umbar crossbows from the Ballistae on the Coarsair ships, sure umbar sounds a bit like isenguard. but thing is I couldn't think of an elite archer unit for umbar.
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

The Corsairs were more-so marauders from what I know, so they would've used hit-and-run tactics quite a lot, complimenting the Harad main-faction.
And the Redsand Archers look good, if not better. Harad could use something like them.

The best way to describe the Coarsairs of Umbar as fast, High damage shocktroops. They do more damage than the khand warband, and have slightly better armor. I wouldn't describe them as the elite infantry, but more like advaced crippling shocktroops. for the role of elite swordsmen can be left to the Troll-men of Far Harad, although they can't get armor upgrades they can rely on their high health meter to keep them alive

my turn.

Umbar: based around large armies of tough, expensive infantry, best used for late game final attacks
coarsairs: agile, hard hiting warriors armed with long daggers
Umbar crossbow: small long ranged balista, decent against buildings, but best against infantry
captain's gaurd: elite, verastile coarsairs armed with cutlases and bows, possibly wall scalers

Khand: based around fast raiding cavalry best used for riding down infantry units throughout the game
variag riders: fast cavalry armed with long poleaxe sorta weapons
Varaig warlords: mounted beserker type units with leadership

Far Harad: based around medium sised, cheap, unique infantry forces good for brutal, almost suicide attacks
Half troll: single large beserker shock troop, armed with clublike weapons
Tribal wild men: large unit of fast, no armored warriors, clothed in various animal skins and armed with bows and strange axelike weapons

I depicted Umbar as having fast, sneaky troops that are more-so assains than anything else, I mean they're pirates clad in leather armour (correct me if I'm wrong), so they would be pretty fast and have a high damage rate, but low armour and possibly lower than normal health.

That is pretty much what the coasairs are. They would probably have low armor, high damage, but more likely higher health to keep them from dying too soon

hdh7, your unit suggestions for the harad minifactions were interesting, but just a couple of words: I don't mind the Variags being dispesible cavalry, but harad has plenty of cavalry already. But where did the spearmen go??

Variags could be a more powerful cavalry, to compliment the Harad main-faction. There's nothing wrong with that, and I think Bard or one of the team/one with all the Tolkien lore (most likely the team) gave us a snippet of where the Variags appeared apart from the Pelenor fields. ;)

Just because other factions have anti-cavalry spearman, doesn't mean Harad needs to.

Maybe they can have just one type of spearman who is recruited from a mini-faction building, like the Tribal Wildmen as hdh7 has mentioned up above.

Yes, but the Wildmen were meant to be archers also. They could be split into 2 diferent units however.

Whatever happened to the "Serpent Knights"? << or Serpent-something. Or did the team replace the name with "Desert Raiders"? I thought the Serpent Knights were going to be Harad's heavy cavalry? Guess I could just be mistaken ...

Well, sure, you could make up a hundred different units with "cool" names, but that wouldn't make it a good game.
