I like the Witch King idea....suiciding him won't be a bad idea after all...

lol, seeing Grond for the first time during the heat of battle. You were scared? Imagine what the Men of Minas Tirith thought!

I like the Witch-king Idea.

As for the Elves, I dont like that idea. The movie portrayed that the Elves are a race of archers. This is not so. Only Legolas' people specialized in archery. Differnt types of Elves were know for different weapons. The Noldor, Elrond's people, were known for their Swords. One other race of Elves whose name I cant remember was known for their Axes.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

They were the Sindar under Elwe, King of Doriath (also know as Thingol), brother to Olwe, 'King' of Alqualonde. He was married to the Maia Melian and father to Luthien. This is the folk that refused the final voyage to Aman and remained in Beleriand, unlike his brother Olwe and his folk. They used axes in warfare.

In the 3rd age they would probably be found among the Sindar nobility of Mirkwood, Lothlorien and Rivendell. The Sindar from Mithlond would be more related to the elves from the southern shores of Beleriand where Cirdan dwelled.

Well, movielike they have this sort of elegant style to all their weapons. The swords have really long hilts/grips and are curved. Just look at the mithlond sentries! Same thing only longer (extrapolated by EA). So, if we were looking for an axe/polearm kindof thing for Doriath-Survivors, i'd give it to a Sinda hero. Maybe Thranduil would be the most likely candidate for using this kind of a weapon. That would mean redesigning him completely, including animations and powers, which fit Legolas much better imho.

In that case, i would like to see a variant of the MithlondSentry 'Spear', where the 'Blade' is broader, shorter, maybe extended to the side from the main shaft, much like an axeblade, only longer and not as broad. Maybe i'll make a crude drawing to make this clear. :ninja:

Why not? Except that i don't like them for Isengard, why not for Goblins? I remember we had some in EM1. So it would surely not be stealing. Especially if we don't just copy code but put the packs together ourselves, which is not so hard.
Sounds like it would be good ideas for Goblins instead of Isengard. Was it just a writing error?

the warg pack code is in the BFME2 code. not that hard to add.

Now if they wanted to add the Thrall Masters and all the units that they can summon from ROTWK (which have no code in BFME2), then they couldn't really do it.

A wolf/warg pack would definately help gobs, especially since spiderlings are gonna be scrapped. Also, take into account that the wargs had their own language and were relatively intelligent, so they could potentially wear some sort of bodyarmor.

I also think that instead of being larger, the giant should be much smaller, even than it's original. Something about a massive Klingon throwing rocks doesn't seem right to me....but hey. My opinion. I think it'd be cool if giants were armored and had big 2-handed hammers, but that's new animating, skinning, and a whorehouse full of other things.

Also, if you're doing any custom voiceovers for some of the enw units (like the new lorien warriors and such) it would be cool if some of the things you had them say were in elvish. Be a lot better than the crap they say now. They sound SOOO gay, especially the builder. But hey, more touch-up stuff.

Alright so I got suckered into registering... :)
Nazgul, I am glad that the Grond thing made you laugh. Just so you know I ended up playing SEE last night with two buddies and they loved the Grond too. I also told them what I thought the first time I saw it and they agreed :p Anyway if you guys end up doing redoing voiceovers maybe when the Witch King's beast goes down and he stands up off of it on the ground he can say "No man can slay me" Just an idea though...

Yeah I see your point about more of the Elven heroes having bows may be too much it was just me being selfish. It's no big deal though.

Like I said before you guys could not change a thing and I would still be happy

On another note:

I really like the idea of Goblins having the Wargs for their cavalry since they had them in the Hobbit maybe even one of the Goblin heroes could ride on one too instead of that stupid spider. I really don't mind the spiderlings but the spider riders I have always hated. ;)

I really wish I was into programming or anything I could help out but unfortunately I am in marketing, funny enough last fall we had a marketing campaign for EA, I wish I had been a member of your community then I really could have told then things they could do better.

P.S. Has anyone ever addressed why EA does not have a pause or a save in the network games it is really annoying to be playing at work and have the game still running when we have to turn our monitors off when our bass comes into the room ;)

The only RTSs that I know that have ingame pause are warcraft3 and starcraft. It woulda been a great feature, tho, especially since now games get so long.

Welcome to our community Han Solo, and might I also ad that I simply loved that guy in Star Wars when I was a kid (and still do, lol). I guess we have that in common too, other than LotR ;) Awesome actor and awesome movies =)

BackOnT: I think all things involving major editing of models is pretty much "nocandos". You see, editing models is painfully slow, hard, time consuming and booring... I'm not a modeler, but I know how much time it takes. Just look at poor TDP trying to fix a new Cave Troll hero for Goblins. He has to alter 54 animations for that too look any good and everyone who has opened up a 3D modeling programs can tell you - that is no fun :p

Small alterations like when TDP made the PJ hero a bit more "chubby"... that's is another matter, but as soon as it involves changing animations and going from bow to sword or something like that... we have weeks of work just for that thing only... so = nocandos I'm afraid.

About the Goblin stuff, you'll find info in the Goblin thread... =)

Not me, I love modeling! Unfortunately I suck at organic models, and can't animate that well yet, so I can't help. :p Here's a .65 M poly behemoth of a mechanical model I made... ;)

Nazgul that's cool you like Han Solo, I like Han too everyone tells me that my personality is a lot like his so I identify with him big time. I think there are a lot of Star Wars/ Lord of the Rings fans, but truth be told I probably like LOTR more cause it was my own thing for a long time. BTW my family comes from Sweden I have never been there but wouldn't mind seeing it someday. Do you know any cool and hot Swedish girls that can be my Princess Leia :p
It's all good with not changing much modeling, I don't know much about it so I will throw comments out and you guys can shoot them down ;)

P.S. You should go onto my Myspace page (url is in my profile) and watch the Han Solo music video, it's on the left side under the Han Solo .gif that is also my avatar.

@ Cleaburn: Sorry, that won't happen. Adding factions is pure hell and very milited. The onle faction I could consider adding is EvilMen...

@ LotRJ: Cool, it kinda looks like that thing in... uhm, what's that movie... and TV-series... with the McGywer guy? Well, looks like that anyways :p

@Han: Hehe do I ever... If you ever come to Sweden, just give me a holla and I'll hook you up  Yeah, Han is a caracter, and so is Indiana Jones... Love those things. Grew up with them =)

^ I know this is mostly OffT, but at the moment I'm ok with it ;) This thread has slowed down anyways since we started adding separate threads for factions... ;)
