I'd rather do it the other way around. No single hero should wield such devestating powers. Besides, the spellbook is basically a hero power repertoir that is simply available to the faction as a whole, making it not depending on resources. For the same reason i would remove the Meteor Shower of Sauron. Heroes deserve some more unique powers. Think 'flavor' over 'destructive power'. Heroes should add to tactical options, not be just there to fire a tactical nuke and then retreat to reload. That's what 3rd tier spellbooks powers are for. My 2cents.

Agreed, thats why AotD should be replaced with a mount option, having clones (as far as they go) of the same powers is dull, and I'd really like to see Aragon mount Brego.

I CAN RUN ULTRA HIGH!!

Be sure to turn on anti-aliasing in the Nvidia control panel, it makes a world of difference. :xd:

thanks i will.

you know in movie context aragorn does sort of have direct control over the army of the dead, but ultimately it the king of the dead who decided whether to fight or not. so maybe aragorn could summon the king of the dead and that enables the spell book power. meaning even if youve spent the 25 points the power hase been purchased but it takes having the king of the dead summoned to use it, sounds like a coding nightmare lol, if its possible at all, but i like naz' idea so whatever is decided is cool with me :p

I think I have an idea for a power to replace Aragorn's level 10 AotD summon.

How about we give him a power that gives some ridiculous leadership bonus to troops around him for a time, like +100% attack speed, +80% armor, and fear invulnerability? The speech he made at the Black Gate could be a good audio cue for the power, perhaps call it 'King of Men'.

While we're close to the subject, I had some ideas for the AotD spell-book power. Seeing as they're floaty spirits and had no problem getting to a height in the movie, shouldn't they be able to attack air units? And since they are the dead, I think they should cause fear in all allies as well. In the books people were still afraid of them, even though they were on our side.

Our side??

well i was trying to mention that you would need Aragorn to summon such an army. With him as a hero it makes sense. But without him...

And about the Fear effect upon Their own faction Troops:
i'd say let those men stand aside. They notice them coming.

Imagine:

You are killing a horde of orcs. A man behind you screams 'Look! The dead are coming!' He runs away. What would you do?

a. get on your knees and hold your shield up
b. Run away like a nasty coward.
c. Stand aside so that army of rotten warriors can pass and you can immediately get back to killing those cursed creatures which are called 'Orcs.'
If the above post offended you in any way,
please take note that, until further notice, I don't care, so get lost.

Sul, can you add some of that so called 'stay put behavior' you have added to the archers to trebuchets? When I put trebs on my second level treb ramparts in Minas Tirith, I would like them to stay there. :good:

i had an idea about gandalf soem time ago, I know he's like, REAL powerful right now, and personally I'm fine with him. But (there's always a but ) what if... (and htis is gonna sound like a designers nightmare) Wormtongue minds-control somebody with level 10 power, let's say, faramir or something, and Gandalf (only when he's the white) comes within a certain radius of it, a vocal sound plays 'I will draw you saruman, as poison is draw.... blablabla,' the hero (faramir) get's knocked back, (maybe dazed for 5 sec) and back to normal? :shiftee:

of course this means making wormotongues power earlier available or stronger as it prolly won't work on stronger charr in this mod anymore and Gandalf can dispell it....

what do you guys think?

hmm, and about the Aotd problem, why not make it so that king of the dead (or aragorn for that matter) makes (in a certain radius) Aotd immune to killing from Gandalf/saruman wizard blast, WoP/thunderbolt, and galadriels wizard blasts.... I mean, I'd like the idea of killing an undead army with magic, but once gandalf or saruman reaches lvl 10, or good faction get galadriel the power does tend to become sort of.... not so useful anymore. And it's not very movie like to let them be able to kill AoTD

it also helps balance things out for evil faction (sauron does NOT kill AoTD) and if Gandalf/gala/Saruman spy an army withoug aragorn or king near and kill it....well then you've been sloppy and they lucky

I really really hate to see Word of Power to go because I love it so so very much...but I have an idea for a replacement as well.

Multiple times in The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings Gandalf summons eagles to his aid. What if you make that Gandalf's level 10 power and made the Summon Eagles power in the spellbook something else...like maybe Word of Power

Have you looked at the Beta V checklist? Gandalf will be able to mount an eagle in beta V. Wich would make a summon eagles power kind of OP!

I was wondering if someone was going to reskin the heroes mounts, so that they look like the ones they ride in the film, I noticed gandalf the white has shadowfax, but when he is grey do you think his horse could be brown? like when he leaves frodo and sam for isengard in fotr. could you consider doing the same for theoden, eomer, eowyn, faramir, and possibly making faramir in full armor when mounted? he has a cape so he would be different from the normal gondor knights. ill see if I can get screens.

got screens.

I see your point... :p
Well, for starters we could at least consider Gandalf's horse, since that brown horse is not Shadowfax indeed... =)

Gandalf only has his brown horse untill he's captured at Isengard ..
And, if you change the horse, you'd have to, realisticly, change the speed of the horse... something you wanna do? :p
