My guess is that we have to escort Rashidi to this base, at which point we'll gain control of it and have to weather some kind of attack from the Soviets or Epsilon.

The base looks kind of weak to be honest, assuming this is located in Alaska, the last bastion of Foehn. Compare it to the base in Thread of Dread, with 30+ hammer deffenses. Who knows though, we're not seeing everything.
I think unlike the fortress in Thread o' Dread, this base is just recently set up

I think Foehn has( well, had) 2 main bases : The Kashmir fortress, and Bering Strait fortress. What we see on the image looks more like a research facility rather than a stronghold.
I highly doubt it was built recently. Look at the "reinforced concrete slabs" and the ground. Everything is neatly organized, much like every Foehn base we have seen in the campaign so far. I love it, it's exactly how I would build a base

If only we could build such 'walls' high above the ground with cliffs.

Have you already destroyed the Iron Curtain with the Battle Tortoise? That's the next objective after Bureau and Robot Ops

Can the bridge in Endurance challenge be destroyable ? The one in the back side, leading to Foehns neutral tech structures ? Since atm if you do sneak few engineers there to steal those structures you will lose them very quickly due to all 3 Foehn armies having quick rout to it and they will engage it with such force you cannot defend it with units over such distance from your base.
With destroyable bridge, Foehn cannot attack those structures with Mastodons, Megalodons and swarms of lancers and those structures might be actually useful to the player.

Also, bridge indestructibleness applies map-wide

I actually finished Moonlight on Easy, and my answer was: Mass Wolfhounds. To every problem of that mission, including finishing it before the time runs out.
I tried that, several times, didn't work. If only because I eventually ran out of funds while my enemies just kept throwing shit at me.
Granted, a big part of the problem here is that almost the whole map is a complete mystery at the same time as the enemy starts throwing so much shit that I can't go thirty fucking seconds without an alert of "Our base is under attack", making it impossible to juggle offense and defense. If I knew where to strike first to get them to stop attacking so fucking much, I could probably beat this accursed thing. But again, the obscure map makes that a wretched chore to even figure out. At this point, I have wasted nearly a week on this stinker. Someone give me a hint!
Oh, and on that note: Is there any quick way to tell if a unit is in guard mode or not? That would be useful to know, since it seems to help units defend bases.

(On easy) The majority of the attacks are scripted reinforcements (including kirovs) spawning near the northwestern corner of the map. Defending that entrance of your base should be priority one, then south-western, and at last the other two entrances (especially sneaky demo trucks).
Moreover, don't be restricted by the walls, there are narrow chokepoints all around your base.

Ok, but what should I defend with? Ideally it should be something I don't need to babysit.

However you still need to check your defenses occasionally. It takes more than a handful of them to take out Kirovs, so you also need a rapid-response team.

You'll need to babysit 'em eventually. Always watch for the Enemy Air Armada detected warning. That's your cue to go alert and look for the wolfhounds/kirovs
There will always be reinforcements from outside the map though. You'd have to deal well with that

If I understand it correctly, the "air armada" Kirovs attack only from one direction. Also it's very helpful to send some Kirovs to the outposts in the north and northwest to destroy their WFs.

What about SCUDs though? Those give me more trouble because it seems like they target the first thing in range, so there's no way to position a unit to intercept. Also, they have no special warning. I thought maybe making my own SCUD launchers and setting them to guard would work as a counter, but instead, mine too target just about anything, including smaller units within my base.
Out of curiosity, how worth it is it to attack the enemy base quickly? If there wasn't a timer leading to even tougher reinforcements arriving, I'd just focus on turtling, but since I don't know if that will let me build up a force tough enough to beat anything that even the big guys send, I haven't risked it.

Don't worry too much about the reinforcements. Here's what they send if you're curious:
These Apocs can be really useful later.
