One thing about Theoden being stronger than Eomer or not. The heroes in this game arent centered around a specific time(Dragons in the Goblins, The angmar heroes(Angmar isnt even a force in the third age)) So each hero should be portrayed as they were at their prime. This is just my opinion.

All the main factions are based around the time of the War of the Ring. Only Arnor and Angmar fall outside this.

I would go back and comment aggain few topics:

1. The Elves shouldn't be in Rohan (at least no tin their regular archery range). Acording to the book (which is the true sorce) they do not take part in the battles of rohan. So I would be glad no to include them
For the movie fans, who insist that the elves must be there, i would suggest at least to move them out in the inn or a special building like the Tavern in MotE.

2. Add the Druadan and Ghan-buri-Ghan. Thay can also be recruitetd from the Inn / Tavern in MotE.

3. Aren't there too many units. After the upgrades of the Yeomen we have 6infantry/archers + 5 cavalery units. The noncavalery ones could be reduced

3. The barracks and archeryrange could be combined in one building from where you recruit Yeomen and where you make the upgrades for infantry/archery.
I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like,
and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Personally, I'd feel a remake of Rohan is in order after the Elves and Angmar :cool2:

I didn't realize that before and I suppose that I agree with you. Rohan's obvious focus is on the cavalry units anyways, so I don't see as to how this suggestion would screw up Rohan's balance. If anything, this idea would just 'clean-up' Rohan a little more.

And I agree with Mike.... Just those heroes :cool2: ...

Also something to do with the Westfold and it's famous infantry would be nice. Just to give a player some more powerful infantry to support the Rohirrim and an upgrade from the Heralds
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

Yeah, it's annoying when your 1000-man cavalry lead by Theoden is crushed by 20 pikes. It'd be nice to have some infantry to send forward so I don't have to play it careful and stop the charge.

There is infantry last time I checked. Are you not familiar with the new Yeomen system?

Anyways, you can send some infantry to deal with the pikes backed up by Horse Archers and you should have pretty much covered that. If you're saying that they're too weak then upgrade them. Giving ROhan stronger infantry won't do much seeing as how the majority of their heroes have mounts and their leaderships are mostly made for mounted units. Rohan has a strong focus on cavalry and I think it's good for the mod to have a faction like that. It gives you diversity.

Diversity

;)

But yeah, scryer's right. Rohirrim can kill pikes in the next version anyway...as long as they outnumber the pikes or they have heavy armor/horse shields.

Hah.

In the private version, the Pikes are definitely something to avoid with your horses but they aren't going to be the death of you so long as do the things that Yoda mentioned.

But if pikes can't counter a rohirrim mass, then what can?

well, a lot of pikes can counter rohirrim :shiftee:
also, siege do a pretty good job of taking out a large group of rohrrim, provided that you can get them to stop moving (for the most part at least) first.

But still, if pikes are gonna be so slow that cavalry can easily go around them and then proceed to wreck the enemy base, then they need to absolutely butcher cav when a player is reckless with them to force people to micro.

It's just rediculous imo that players currently have the option of countering pikes by just getting even more rohirrim instead of having to get at least a few hordes of yeomen or mounted archers for that.

It's pricy, but it works.

Try trampling some pikes in a skirmish. 4 (20 units) FU hordes of rohirrim tried to kill 1 goblin pike horde. Noted, they charged from the front, but still. I lost about 6 guys, and the rest were all below half health. So that's 10 goblin spearmen units, which costs about 300ish? Against 20 units of rohirrim, which costs about 2400 (though only about 1900 with farm discounts) plus 1800 in upgrades.

As I said, you need to either outnumber them or out upgrade them a lot.

And what about the time I had a mid-sized army of FU phalanxes get bulldozed?

Maybe they just suck :shiftee: Or were u mixing in other units? I know u had ents, but iirc they didn't show up until a bit later...

I had twice as many rohirrim as you had phalanx, plus theoden and eomer for leadership. Never discount leadership :shiftee:

But yeah, I think dwarves could stand to be a bit better too
