as to astrinax, hourns would be cool, but if you go by the books, they're really anti-unit and not anti-building. they went after the orcs while the ents went after isengard. i know theres some hourn models out there somewhere tho

If these huorn models ever got put into game it would be cool to have a power that could be cast on a group of trees, turning them into huorns for a short time. When the time period ran out they could simply turn back into trees.
Interesting.... but is it possible to make something like that? perhaps the animation for the effect/ability could virtually be just like the one used for Isengard's Devastation power or something? cept suddenly weird - somewhat entish but more treeish stuff would rise to fight! maybe that animation wouldn't look as good as an animation of regular trees suddenly twisting and turning into movable units.. but .. In any case if creating something new like that is possible - perhaps we could use an ability like - "Rage of Fangorn" or smth to practically "engulf" and rape an army of any size, weak or strong - by the hordes - if they are to enter and be traversing through masses of trees/forests or smth. Seemingly, (if) the enemy forces are running through the forest en masse, u would have basically the trees all suddenly shaking up, and twisting and strange "tree-ish" sounds - meanwhile the enemy army won't be exiting for some reason no matter what they do, and u'd here the enemy units' death audio... and soon enough the trees will have had their
bloodthirsty revenge!! considering how powerful and "single-shottingly" raping this ability would be to mass FU elite armies.. about to besiege a weak force or smth... But let's not forget such an ability would have a MASSIVE downside in that it would only be usable if the area on which the ability is casted has sufficient amount of tree masses to shadow much of the enemy forces. <- hehe my little imaginary ability ther..

well maybe a Huorn can be produced from the ent moot fer VERY expensive and could come in a horde of 10, and if that could happen, they could have a spell where they would become a forest in the map with the forest floor and everything, and they would be unclickable and set to agressive when in tree form
VERY HARD to code and model id assume so its probly gonna be a no-go fer hourns

I stand by my original idea.
although i can't help but like an idea like isengards devestation that instead of ripping down tree's would make the trees kill enemys for a short period of time.. I donno. I like the seige idea better.

that further makes the concept even more "flexible" and as u've said.. harder to implement
But now going back to ur original idea jimmyman dud - it reminds me of how in Warcraft III, u could use ur druid in Night Elf faction to turn regular commonese trees into treants, and use them as instruments of war!!

The Rohan barracks can be built anywhere...
hehe, and i simply love "abusing" that glitch... cuz I for one - am one of the fewer ppl that would much rather prefer certain buildings to be built totally outside of the base's premisis or vecinity... I mean it can be frustrating to be unable to buildup an entire empire spaning the halve of the entire map :(
