Silly Fyro. I am calm, see? *calm*

I swear that Wargs are Wolves and Bears. Somewhere.

And no, having Warg Riders for Goblins as well as Spider-Riders is not a radical change. Nor have I suggested other "radical changes". Just look at any topic, silly.

I was merely stating that because the Goblins are a "wild" faction, they should be able to ally with the spiders.
If this is going to be so hardcore Lore-sticking, then why do we even have an attack on Rivendell included in the campaign, and why can you fight Helm's Deep as the Dwarves? Why can Arnor summon Arwen, when she hasn't been born yet? Why have heroes like Rogash, Lurtz, Morgomir, Karsh when they're a fabrication of EA or Peter Jackson? Why bother? [/rant]

Inventing Characters is one thing, having the scope to have summonable characters out of context is another, in which case practically all Summons would be deemed out of context considering alot of the summonable characters were not even involved in the battles of LOTR.

Spiders being the descendants of the ungoliant, I don't think would have allied with anyone - in nature spiders have a perverse instinct, after mating, they eat their mate, if hungry they'll eat their own spawn, spiders don't even get along with each other - put two of them together and see what happens.... I don't see where the logic of allying them with Goblins to the point of spider-riders comes into it, other than spiders are wild... And wild by its most basic definition means "extreme lack of control" - and I think that pretty much sums up spiders as a whole. That is just my opinion.

I personally hate spider-riders. I think Goblins need cavarly but I think wargs would fit them better

I agree. Why have something completely made up and horribly ugly, when you can have something that is actually lore accurate?

There is no way that spiders would let the goblins ride them they barely get along with eachother.

[new tactic] Please don't get rid of the spider riders. Please. I know the idea's a bit ridiculous, but they're fun.

Remember that the lore definately says (I know this one) that Sauron calls all manner of creatures to do his bidding, and in time they will all serve. Being monsters, giant spiders seem likely to fit here. As if Sauron has forced them to work together, just like Rhun and Harad.

It isn't the giant spiders it is the goblins riding them. There was a suggestion to make the giant spiders the elite horde for the gobs instead of the baby drakes.

Also this mod usually goes for a lore accurate game.

I swear that Wargs are Wolves and Bears. Somewhere.

I think that might have been on the extra stuff DVD from TTT, or something, where they say that they thought about a mix between a wolf and bear when creating the wargs...
I could be wrong though, as I can't really remember it, but I know I've heard something about that before too :shiftee:
It's wrong though, bears have nothing to do with wargs :shiftee:
Or, there was a bear that fought wargs... Beorn :shiftee:

That is correct Lauri. That is how they decided to model them as a regular wolf skeleton can't be ridden on. It is a matter of the spine. Though wargs have a more feline spine than an ursine.

Aye. As for Spider-Riders...just give the toggle to the Warg-Riders. Solves the problem.

Yeah. I have never ever made them when I play with gobs, because I hate them. :shiftee: They go too far away from lore.
I also think that spider is not the best thing to ride

They could be moved to the elite Hero-horde... they could even become Mordor units, as Goblin mercenaries. Sauron calls all manner of creatures to serve him.

Yes, but he doesn't make all manner of creatures cooperate to the point that a goblin rides a spider. Goblins are good, spiders are good, but they shouldn't be mixed.

Spider Riders are just too far from the lore, I think that we should just go with the suggestions I made before (I'll post them again in case nobody remembers what suggestions I mean :p)...

Drop Half Troll Marauders, Half Troll Swordsmen, Fire Drake Brood, and Spider Riders. Then add Brood Mothers (Giant Spider Hero Horde), Warg Cave (any other ideas as for the name), Wargs, Warg Riders (They could have a toggle.), Cave/Moria Uruks (Uruk Hai with Goblin armor), and Goblin Chieftain Guard (needs a better name, they would use large spears and shields).

If we go by this then the Goblins have a replacement for the Spider Riders, which in my opinion are much cooler, I mean aren't these guys amazing?

So far I pretty much agree with this idea. Not a 100% on it though, but I think it's the best proposal so far for replacing the lore-shredding spider riders.

Rename swordsmen and make them into mhh Bolg's Bodyguard, drop everything else said (except move half troll spears to harad), have a beast pit with spiderlings, wargs, and warg riders.
